Triggering (SI) - back in the habit.

well this is my first post and i hope someone has good advice.
i had a lot of problems when i was younger and would periodicaly si, when i did it was serious.

ive left my teens now and thought the only problems id have at uni were scars, for which im quite creative with explanations to nosy people.
i went back to my old ways after suffering a broken heart and the old feelings i thought were gone turn out only to have been repressed.
for the first time in my life im ashamed because i considered myself a strong minded and bodied person. now im a shadow of my former self, it doesnt help when i see my old training partners around campus looking buff.
the local gp thinks im depressed and gives me pills which havent helped even after the full course. i realise he's the doctor and im not but i dont think his diagnosis is indepth enough.
ive always been paranoid/scared of councilling because i dont know anything about what goes on or what might crawl from the depths of my memory.
what would happen if i see the uni psycologist?
is anyone else in my position that has words of advice?
thanks
