Accessing Health Records
I would like to access all my mental health medical notes.
How do I go about this?
Do I have to get my notes in paper form, or can they give me a CD with all the notes on it? Because I want to be able to hide it from everyone.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

I guess it depends on how they are saved so far. I have written notes but also notes on computer.
Mind can help you write the letter to apply for a copy. There is normally a charge (about a tenner ish).

i'm tired of chasing my dreams.
i'm just gonna ask where they're going,
and hook up with them later.

I have my medical notes from the different hospitals I was in. Just write to the ward where you stayed and ask for a copy. I got mine for free but they can charge you up to £50. If you want an actual copy they come in paper form. The other option is to go to the ward and read your notes on the computer which I think is free.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.

Are you actually able to apply for all of the Mental Health Records from within the OP/Community care?
(Sorry for asking on here, I just didn't want to start another thread).
I know you can have them from the Doctors for a small charge. xx

erm not wanting to be the bearer of (potential) bad news but they dont have to let you see your notes...
Hopefully they will, but if they think it will cause you mental harm to see them they might not.
I was not orginally allowed to see mine cos they contained nasty personal comments about me and incriminating evidence of neglect from the MH team :p

Thanks guys. I am aware that I might not be allowed access, but I am going to make an appointment with my GP (for a prescription and about my knee problem) so when I'll see her, I'll mention that I want to read my mental health notes.
Just wondering if I could, that's all.
Would be good if I could be allowed on a computer on the ward or at my CMHT to read my notes though...

Thank you Romperfry. I will ask my psychologist today, or my social worker next week, if I remember.
