medication dose changes and periods *female stuff*

Is it normal to get your cycle all out of synch when you change anti-depressant dosage?

It's just, well, I've been having intermittent cramps [and PMS!] for a week, and no sign of bleeding.
Today is day 35.
In recent months my cycle has stabilised to average 32 days.
I'm frustrated and concerned.

[And no, there's no chance in anything that I could be pregnant!]

Anyone else's periods go different when you changed your dose?

Hm, I am not sure about med changes - but is there the chance that if your med was upped, the contributing stress and emotions that led to the change in med has affected your menstrual cycle.

Either way - the menstral cycle is known for being one of the finickiest things in women-kind so it may be that the change in your system upon the change of meds affected it.

It should settle down again soon *hugs*

Certain medications can interfere with your cycle but I wasn't aware that dose changes alone can cause changes.
Are you sure it's period related?

Thanks ladies.

I'm hoping that being able to relax deeply in therapy this morning will help some. And I'm going to have an aromatherapy bath this evening.

I didn't have a period for one and a half years on Olanzapine. Now I'm on Haloperidol and I've stopped having periods again, thank god.

I only know about antipsychotics, but I know they can mess up your periods.

Hugs.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

Glad that it worked. It was probably related to stress but it could have been the meds and it was a coincidence that it finally came. I know that my anti-psychotics screwed with my cycle majorly but I wasn't on anti-depressants long enough to experience that side effect if it were to happen (I became manic/mixed when I took them).

You're welcome Stellata. I would advise you to go to your doctor if your periods are very irregular though.

They're not that irregular, not usually.
But, I'm seeing my GP this morning, and will definitely tell her.
