Memory, etc.

I didnt know where to post this, but I guess this is the best place?
Anyways, I tend to have a bad memory, I forget some things quickly, I dont remember the names of things at work, like what they are. I confuse what people say easily, or dont understand. Im horrible at math, i dont remember pretty much anything and ive always been like that with math. It just never seems to stick, no subject really does. like english, or socials. When I write, I can make a mistake like putting down the last word I was thinging down in stead of the one that was supposed to go next. I hardly do that.. nvm about that but, when I sometimes read things i will read them wrong. my mind will skip a word i guess, like "The dog ate food" but instead it will be "the dog food" and skip the word "ate" and i will read it over and realize i missed reading a word.
I know this sounds dumb sorry, i was just wondering. (as you can tell I tend to not make sence when i write or talk for that matter..)

Are you on any medication, and do you have a diagnosis of any mh?

Also - have you mentioned this to any professionals, Drs or a teacher perhaps?

I ask, as it can point to many different things.

My memory changes depending on my mood. When my mood is too high or too low I do not remember things and do not have a very good attention span or focus, so I will loose focus when reading and so loose my place very easily. I know it is not quite the same thing, but I understand in a way how frustrating it can be.

^^Agree with talking to your doc.
I have this; the last 2 years are pretty much gone but for bits and pieces.
My doc has said it's likely due to the benzo I was on for tooo long plus the depression.
I have troubles with reading now too, with 'remembering' the word for objects sometimes, etc.
I know how distressing it can be.
Hopefully your doc may have some ideas.
Gingko Biluba(herbal) is meant to be very good for memory/mental clarity. But clear it with your doc first, if you are thinking of trying it. It may react if you are on meds.

I haven't got the best memory either but I think for the most part with me it's related to my learning problems cause I don't forget things like appointments and things, It's more 'processing' things that I forget/get confused I'm sure MH issues also play a part though cause like Roiben I find it hard when my mood is either low or elated.
It's definatly worth speaking to a doctor and also a teacher about it.

I have the exact same problem except that when I re-read things I continue to read it the same wrong way over and over and eventually I may catch it but most of the times I don't and it's evident when I get back school work with feedback. I asked my psychology professor about it as he works in the neurological field and he said he never heard of that and said it's more likely a psychological problem than a neurological problem but said to be safe to see a neurologist.

My psychiatrist thinks it may be a part of a mental health disorder (possible thinking/psychotic disorder) but I'm not sure what I believe about that. I must point out that I have a lot of other symptoms going on so what he said was not just based on this reading issue alone.

I personally believe that my depression might be doing this. I just thought I'd share this with you so you know you aren't alone in this. I would discuss this with a doctor especially since you said it's been going on an extended amount of time. It could be a number of different things and if it's interefering significantly in your life I'd think it to be a good idea to follow up on this.

Take care

I have a really bad memory too. I was told by my doctor that it's because of my depression, that it's very common. So if you're depressed, that could be an explanation.

I felt every ounce of me screaming out,
But the sound was trapped deep in me.
