I am currently:
Just for today

I don't know if this will be helpful to anyone...
And I'm not telling anyone what to do...but I want to share something about alcoholism.
I am a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. So, in true AA style I'm going to introduce myself...
I am Hannah and I'm an alcoholic.
Theres a lot of scepticism about AA.
But its 12 steps have been the reason I am now 5 months sober. They are the reason that most days every week I sit in a room and listen to the experience, strength and hope of other alcoholics that have years and years of sobriety behind them. I've met people who have gone from living on the street because of their drinking, to being 50 years sober.
I just want anyone who struggles with drinking, and thinks they may be an alcoholic not to discard the idea of AA.
I'm not promoting it, or trying to get anyone to join. At the end of the day AA is a programme of recovery, yes for people who need it...but more for people who WANT it.
Its about a day at a time. Just For Today I am sober.
If you live in yesterday, you regret. If you live in tomorrow, you fear. If you live in the now so CAN manage.
Try it...if you tell yourself you are going to stop drinking from this point onward...it seems terrifying, unmanagable and somewhat impossible. Now tell yourself you are for this moment in time not going to pick up a drink...it doesnt seem so terrifying.

Theres lots to AA other than what I've written...but as I said I don't want to bore you all or lecture you...
I just want to share my own experience so far...in hope that maybe it can help.

I just want to share a paragraph from my favourite chapter of the big book in AA...
"There is no more aloneness, with that awful ache, so deep in the heart of every alcoholic that nothing before could ever reach. That ache is gone and never need return again. Now there is a sense of belonging, of being wanted and needed and loved. In return for a bottle and a hangover, we have been given the keys of the kingdom"
If anyone has any questions about AA please feel free to ask :)
Lots of love to you all

its great that AA has made such a postive difference in your life and ,by the sounds of it, many others. i hope that you continue to get the help and stay sober.
thankfully i got help when i was inpatient for my alchol consumption so i hope i never have to be in an AA meeting.

I definately needed to be an inpatient too...I spent two weeks detoxing on medication, and then when I felt physically well enough moved out of the detox room into a shared bedroom and did the groups etc. I have to say I don't think I'd be where I am now if I hadn't of gone into a treatment centre for 9 weeks but the only way I have been able to continue without drinking (along with the therapy etc) is AA :)
