Over a week ago I was told to write a paper on the vivid imagery and compassionate approach in the poetry of Michael Longley (f*cking hack). When asked how long it should be, my teacher helpfully said "long enough."
It's due in exactly 23 hours and 46 minutes, as of writing.
So I suppose I should get started.
I used to be able to churn out essays at lightning speed (and still get a big shiny "A") all the time but it's been a while since I've had to do so, so let's see if I can still do it.
Haha! I did that essay last week. Due Tuesday morning so I started it Monday night at 10pm. Its sooooo easy so theres no doubt youll get an A. Good luck!!
Ps. You doin any Leeson street courses at Christmas?
Less than a page written so far. In my defense though, I did fall asleep earlier, and this would be much easier if Longley wasn't so utterly, utterly sh*te.
Or maybe I've lost that fire, that drive... maybe I'm getting old. I'm 18 years old dammit, I can't quite manage the frenzied, caffeine-fuelled writing sessions I could blast through at 16.
Nah, f*ck it, I'm blaming Longley. And I'll finish this essay just to spite him... I might even send him a copy if I get an A, with a note saying "screw you, and your f*cking badger" (no further explanation).
14 hours and 5 minutes remaining (this morning I overestimated the time I actually had. Damn).
Haha badgers. Be a badger Conor! Plough through the essay!! Its grand once ya get into it.. Hes such a moany fecker isnt he. My father didnt love me :(. GO AWAY YA SAP!
haha im gonna be 21. i should prolly give up too =p
[i say as i look at the disgusting pile of coursework due before wed]
“The good things don’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
“If it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best. My friends have always been the best of me.”
I've already said this, but I'm so glad I never have to look at any of his poetry again. Pity you & Zoe.
His poetry is simple enough though, easy to write an essay on and do well. It's just awful.
Yes Mark, you are the only one who didn't mind him. Well, my English teacher liked him, but other than that.
But haha. I don't have to write essays. I practically don't even get homework, I mean, 8 maths questions in 6 weeks is nothing. I get to build motors, and cars that you send down ramps.
I haven't exactly written "I hate him I hate him I hate him" like you advised, but I have taken every opportunity I can to point out that his poetry is unforgiveably bad ("hard to like" was my exact turn of phrase... vicious, I know), and I haven't even gotten to Badger yet. When I do, I'm just going to write swear-words all over the page. So many that that part of the essay is completely covered with them, and therefore illegible.
