What do you do to stay still

Hi,

I think I am currently going through a Hypomanic or Mixed State - sorry, I always have trouble trying to decide when I am in which and do not have my bf to hand near me to know for sure which.

My other main reason for not being sure is that I was extremly upset and suicidal yesterday and started planning how and when et al (normal phase for me this time of year).

My mind is going at humpteen to a dozen and I am hyperactive. My main problem at the moment though is that I can not sit still or slow down my movements... It is even making typing difficult as I am trying to type faster than I normally can, so my aim is a bit off.... and I keep hitting the wrong keys.

How do you calm down a body that seems to have Restless Leg Syndrome throughout the entirety of it? I can not sit still, my hands have to be moving, tapping, typing - soemthing, my feet or legs are much the same and it is making people give me strange looks.

In work is not quite so bad, but trying to sit still and stay calm on the train and bus this morning to get to work was excruciating... I am finding it frustrating in work, but am mostly okay so long as I am busy... if I have nothing to do then I have to go talk to someone as I can not just sit and do nothing.

Help? Suggestions? Either would be grately appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm not sure that there is anything that can be done other than taking a sedative of some kind. Staying active rather than trying to work against the fidgeting etc would be my advice.

Yeah that's an idea, I find even just brisk walking can calm me down.

Jumping with a skipping rope, and/or running up and down stairs are some good ways!

I get what you mean about not being able to stay still - especially in public places. it's not so bad when you're with other people but by yourself it can be unbarable.

I've resorted to carrying packets of polos with me and when i get to that stage i tear up the wrappers and fold them like 100 different ways. I know it seems mad but its a focus and stops me lol'in at random people for reason :)

As for work try to get regular breaks in where you can vent to someone some of your energy. The exercise plans are also good as they can use up the energy before you are buzzing away.

Hope that helped and good luck :)

Thought I oughta bare my naked feelings
Thought I oughta tear the curtain down
I held the blade in trembling hands
Prepared to make it but just then the phone rang
I never had the nerve to make the final cut
