worst compliment

What's the worst-sounding, well-meaning compliment you've received?

I have two contenders:

"You look so distracting! I mean, you're not the most beautiful or elegant girl in the world....but damn you're distracting in that dress!" - that was from my boyfriend

the second one is a feedback comment from a training trip we did in the isle of Skye - "You lot are the fastest group on the flat i've ever seen... For a girls group. And you're not so good with mountains".

I'm intrigued what other people have heard!

My boyfriend was talking about my tummy, and he was saying how "squishy and cuddly" it was.
And we saw somebody wearing a dress that I had, and he said that it looked better on me, because I "filled it out more".

I know that he was trying to be sweet! And I really did appreciate it, because that was his intention. But it was quite funny at the time!

"Your legs are nice and strong. Like great big logs". My dad, to me. When I was 9.

At my Dad's wedding one of his friends gave me a stunned look at said:

"wow, I remember you used to be short and fat!"

I know he was trying to say "wow you look nice now!" but totally tactless lol

"You have nice eyebrows"

What the hell does that even mean?

It would have been worse if they'd said "you have a nice eyebrow".

My Nana is the worst. It's things like "you look great with curves, but you have to remember to hold your stomach in or you are gonna get a BIG FAT TUMMY" (worlds in caps were literally spat out) when I was holding my tummy in

Reality leaves a lot to the imagination

Don't find that a compliment in the slightest.

Men are so tactless sometimes =P

It didn't matter in the end how old they had been, or that they were girls,
but only that we had loved them and that they hadn't heard us calling,
still do not hear us calling them from out of those rooms where they went to be alone for all time,
and where we will never find the pieces to put them back together.

She doesn't mean it though, she's just getting old and tactless!

I think the worst compliment I have ever received, wasn't because it was a backhanded one, just because it made me feel tremendously guilty and scumlike and bleurgh was my Dad:
"You shouldn't fight with your sister because she's never going to be as beautiful as you and never be as intelligent as you. You've got all the advantages so even when she annoys you you shouldn't retaliate"
It makes me cringe even hearing that

I think 'Child bearing hips' are sexy. Deffo a compliment.

Sorry, I have the win right here. I compliment a friend of mine gave our teacher back when I was in school.

She was chatting girl talk with the teach and suddenly said "Do you use moisturiser, because your face looks better than my arse."
She genuinely thought that was a good compliment.
She wa blonde, which doesn't help the image of blondes.
