Wording on calander

I have just been playing with the calander.
It displays everyones birthday on it.
However to get it to do this, you have to select self harm related dates.
Sorry it just does not seem right to me to have my bday as a self harm related date.

I think you can change what the calendar shows at the bottom of the page there.

Yeah you can. But to get it to show birthdays you have to select self harm related dates.

Yeah I do agree there needs to be a language change on that. It was originally just for the Self Harm events, but I then added the whole birthday thing and it was attached to that because it is the 'main' calendar, rather than the Events and Meet up's calendar. Now they are added however it should really just be called the RYL calendar, or the Community Calendar or something.

Can we think up a clearer name now then? Not one that confuses that calendar with a calendar that would contain Community Events... that is the tough bit.

On a side note - how do you mean you have to select Self Harm related Events - how are you getting to the calendar...because it is that Calendar that IS the RYL calendar... and the events and meets up's one is of course different and linked from that board. You can go between the two, but that one should, unless you click on the Events and Meet ups link be the main calendar.

I could of course have birthdays viewable only on a seperate calendar, but a more general community based calendar was meant to be the point so I would vote we just rephrase that better

Ok well i have been going to the calander through events and meet ups. Did'nt know there was any other way to get there. So yeah its the calander jump that states self harm related dates.
*goes to put that in Kaya's thread on Guide to ryl.*
Maybe a simple change would be the most effective. Something like RYL related dates and that would also cover ED's and the likes.

I think Ryl related dates is good if it has a specific would count then a shorter version could be umm i'll get back to you!


My calendar setting was the events and meets one so I had to change it at the bottom to get the birthdays up.

ryl related dates would work for the word count as its still shorter than what it is now.

Go to community > calendar

Obviously pressing on the link for the Events and meets ups calendar will take you to the other one :)
