Should I live with three French girls at University? :>
I was having trouble with university accomodation as I was told the volume of applicants was high and they were not going to be able to offer everybody who applied a place in halls. So today I got on the phone with a partnership thing that offers private sector accomodation, and got something sorted, for a large student house living with like 9 or 10 other people.
I haven't signed anything yet. I'm meant to be doing on Monday.
Some French girl just offered me the last room in a student house with her and two of her also French female friends.
SORT OF WANT :< Is this going to end badly if I accept the latter offer..
Do you know how much income you've got coming in to survive with at university? From things I've heard, halls are a lot cheaper than going private rented.
I know second cheapest in a untie building? We've got one round here, they're very nice & pretty much like university halls, just a touch more expensive.
Also, what do you know of these girls? Living with people is difficult, I have always struggled with it, hence why I now live alone. What type of things do they enjoy?
Also, another thing to consider is, which year in uni are they? I know it sounds trivial, but say they were third years, unless they plan to stay in the area you\ll have to worry about finding other people to live with.
It also my isolate you a little from those who are in any type of halls, I know that when i had friends in halls, we'd stay up drawing on the table, smoking out the windows & causing a nuisance until daylight, whereas those i knew with houses in first year have always been a little more reluctant to be annoying.
I would say for you to try out any type of halls first, as I think, to be honest chris, the biggest reason you want to live with these french girls is because you might get your leg over =p
& then if that happens & it's awkward after, you may end up having to find somewhere else to live.

I think we all knew that.

But in all seriousness, the house looks very impressive, I just question whether living with all girls would be difficult, and having no other males around. I have my doubts.
As tempting as sharing with 3 French girls may seem, I reckon you might end up losing out re socials etc that you would have if you were living with the 9/10 students.

How comfortable would you feel with three French girls who all know each other and may well prefer to speak to each other in French. It's up to you though.
Also budget it. Halls and Unite buildings usually have utility bills included whereas private rents usually don't. However, generally private lets can work out a lot cheaper than halls and student housing.
I guess i'm turning it down. I shouldn't make it priority just because of this factor (even though they just added me on facebook and the decision was a LOT harder to make :(!).
Instead, i'll use the fact that i'm doing English teaching as a foreign language to exploit the fact they want to learn English better! ;D
This is, unsurprisingly perhaps, a very male-dominated thread!
Everything else aside: Do you think you;d be able to get on with the girls? Or can you not imagine things going as peachy as you might wish in an ideal world? Would uni accomodation be any more sociable?
On the subject of price... I heard halls are supposidly much more expensive (I'll be paying £110 a week for a 4x3ish room with an ensuite no bills self catered)...
