Triggering (SI/Suicide) - Working from home

Hi,

I just wondered if any of you guys worked from home? I've just started a new job, and whilst a lot of will be based within the community, it is a new project, and my office is at home. I've spent hours and hours at home, and am genuinely struggling. Struggling with loneliness, massively strong desires to hurt myself, and always feel very unsafe, desperatly contemplating a way out of life.

I just wondered if any of you were in the same boat, and if so how you cope with it? I'm scared it's just going to be far too much for me to deal with

I don't really think I'm qualified for advice giving, but having just done a weeks home working I guess I should have some ideas based on how it was for me
I found my biggest problem was keeping focussed and motivated, it sounds like if you could keep your mind on your work it would keep it off other things?

I'm guessing you'll have colleagues and people you have to communicate with, maybe get their emails or msn so you're never out of touch

One thing that may/may not help, but working from home you can choose when and where to work, so maybe you could have a friend round for lunch or coffee to break the loneliness, or you could go out to a local shop or cafe?

As for the desires, I can only suggest going with your usual distraction methods

It might be helpful to have the tv or music on in the background, its something to focus on when you're not focused on work givign your mind less time to focus on other things

Sorry I'm not really full of ideas but working from home meant I just watched more tv, spent all day on the internet and did about half an hours work a day, but nevermind me

You can do it, just keep distracted and focussed, a contradiction I know but I'm sure you know what I mean

I can work from home, but really struggle with it... agree with Pictsie, best to schedule time with people, whether friends or colleagues, also, I find it helps to be clear each day what I want to acheive/complete, I need a focus... is there somewhere you could work that would be around people? The library? Or try to set up a meeting with someone every day - I find the afternoon is best because it helps me get trhough the morning

another question (sorry!) - is this a job you feel enthusiastic & motivated about? If it is, then worth finding strategies to cope. If not, perhaps it's not the right job. I'm not being critical, I know I'd struggle with working from home no matter how great the job

take care, hope it works out for you
