Drinking on medication?

I am on two medications, Tegretol for Bi-Polar which i've been on for maybe 2-3 months and Respiradol a anti physcotic which i've been on for 3 years.
On Saturday i was drinking and doing some other stuff too which i shouldn't be on these tablets.
If your going to ask why it's because i hate not being able to live a teenage life and drink and do those other things because of my condition, i enjoy them so i do it. However stupid that might sound.
Do you know wether these can have an effect on my tablets and bring me down? As since i have been quite depressed and not myself?

It's really quite simple. I know it's part of "being a teenager" but the meds say not to drink with them, so don't. You're not a trained doctor so have no idea how you might be damaging or affecting your body. There are other ways to have fun, you don't need alcohol.

With the Tegretol and alcohol: the side affects will be increased (this means the chance of suidical thoughts) and there is also an increased risk of siezures.

With the Respiradol and alcohol: again, the side affects will be greatly increased. It also increases drowsiness and can lower your blood pressure. It will also make you drunk more quickly.

The other reason for not drinking is that alcohol is a depressive. You WILL feel worse after drinking, that's why it's such a dangerous drug.

That information actually makes alot of sense, it does kind of relate to how i was feeling after drinking on Saturday night.
I don't think i'll be doing it as i have been feeling like crap since...
Thanks for that

No problems. There are lots of websites about it if you want to do further reading. Just type "Respiradol and alcohol" etc, and there should be lots!

Hate to sound pedantic but it's spelled 'Risperidone' which may bring up more suitable websites.

Risperdal (admittedly there was a spelling mistake initially) is the generic brand name, like Prozac for Fluoxetine, and works just fine in the search engines.

I would recommend speaking to your doctor. My doctors generally say it's okay to drink a glass of wine with a meal on my medication, because it is often a part of teenage/adult life. But it's important to know how this will affect you so make sure you're in a safe place - and always speak to your doctor first because none of us know you/how it would affect you.

Otherwise, as chrysalis said, alcohol is so not necessary in having fun and there are plenty of teenagers who don't drink for all sorts of different reasons.
