Lithium Question

I just recently got put on Lithium 800mg a day and am experiencing some side effects. The "Lithium taste" , Shaky hands and seeing this blurred thing in front of my left eye, Now I know that the taste and the shaking are to be expected but has anyone else had this blurred image , I've looked in the mirror and seen that there is nothing there but I can still see it , the Dr's have never heard of it . Thanks for your help :)

i havnt had lithium so dont know the effects
if your doctor hasnt heard of it then it would be worth asking for it to be checked or start a reduced level if your doctor agrees to see if that changes anything

You cant really reduce lithium as there has to be a certain amount of it in your blood for it to work. I've never heard about this, sorry! But if your doc hasnt either, it might be worth going to the opticians?

I'm suprised they started you off straight away on a high dose, my doctor was very strict about starting off on a low dose and gradually buidling the amount of lithium in my system up, for a variety of reasons. I now take 800mg, but I started at 200 ad worked up in 200 increments from there.

Maybe speak to your doctor about taking it more steadily? Lithium is very toxic and your body needs time to adapt.

I was on 600mg and never had any side effects other than acne. I would try a specialist as it may or may not be due to the lithium. And make sure they're taking your blood levels cause I had a friend who got lithium toxicity cause the levels in his blood were too high.

You may not be eating enough with it, or may not weigh enough for the amount you were given. That is quite a bit.

that is a high dose to start on. I was started at 300mg and finally up to 1200 now.
Never had that side effect. Or the 'taste' one either.
Talk to your doc about it, ask about on optician.
And, yes, do not miss any blood tests.
