I found a website called
Instructables. Upon it I found a project called
Urban artwork using bead plates.
A lengthy title but a very cool project. It involves using Hama beads and making characters and patterns, like the ones pictured below:
and then you use some superglue or caulk adhesive and stick them up around your local town, like so:
and voilą!
Urban art that is cheery and fun. Not like your standard graffiti.
Places like traffic lights are suggested because:
Location is everything. Pick a spot where people have a chance to see your art, but don't make it too obvious. It will be more fun for people if they feel like they've found something (maybe we failed a bit in that aspect). Traffic lights are really good since it's kind of rare for people to actually look up when they're waiting to cross.
I've been obsessively thinking about this since I found the article on the website. First bit of spare cash I get I'm buying Hama beads and I'm going to create some characters. Super Mario based mostly I think. Then I'm going to shove them up all over my town. I have a feeling I'm going to have to get up early to do it. Give the locals a surprise when they walk to work.
I thought it cool and wanted to share that with you all.
