This could be a stupid question...

&& I feel a little silly for asking it. But I wasn't reallyl sure where else on here it could go anyway.

I'm really addicited to being drowsey. It makes me feel numb and I can just get on with stuff without having to FEEL so much. So I take whatever I can. Paracetamol which makes you drowsey, the night medicine for colds that's meant to help you sleep. The herbal sleeping pills, if i had accsesss to the medical ones I KNOW I'd be taking them because i think about it all the time. How if it was just stronger I'd be good. I don't want to OD. I just want to have that feeling.

Is this substance abuse? I go shakey if I haven't had anything...and i spend time waiting for my next lot of pills.

If this was a stupid question feel free to tell me.

Thank you. :)

I am trying to cut down the amount of stuff I take, and cutting out anything medicated. I guess I'll just have to work on that..why I need to escape reality thing though.

Yes, this is substance abuse. I would advise speaking to a Dr and a therpist about what you have been taking and in what amounts - as they may need to do blood tests to ensure you have not done any damage.

The Dr can also advise on the shakiness you get when not taking the meds - which is a symptom of withdrawal. They may help provide guidance on reducing the doseages safely.

A therapist/counsellor may be able to work out why you feel the need to be numbed to the world and if there is a better, safer route for you.
