Does anyone do musical theatre?

I have no idea how to get back into it now I've left school. :/
I don't even know what level I'm capable of performing in, I'm around a grade 6 vocally (although have never bothered taking any exams) but I wouldn't know where to start when looking for opportunities to act/sing.
I don't want to have to join some expensive theatre company as I'm never going to be a professional but I would love to start performing again.
Does anyone know where a good place to start is?

Hmmm. Maybe you could look around for local drama clubs or something? I'm not sure, sweetie. Good luck though!

There are quite a few in my town, and they tend to advertise in the local paper and at our theatre; it may be worth starting to have a look there?
If you're in a position to start singing lessons again, that may be a really good to start - but also, speaking to singing teachers in the area may be able to also put you in contact with your local drama groups?

That's what I've done here, anyway :)
Take care, and good luck!
xx

Aw man if only you lived in london, i go to a drama/performing arts thing at the weekends (actually ive left now lol) and it's not that much money...
But seriously, just look in your local paper or something...

This might not be any use to you, but it says you live in Brighton, do you know where Lewes is? Its like 20 mins away, and there's always a nice little theatre there? They do shows at Christmas, and a few during the year...I know they've recently done Sweeney Todd..and Oh what a lovely war. They might do auditions? Could be fun :)

Have you tried BLT (brighton little theater) i know someone who went there for a bit don't know what it's like it's near churchill square. or brighton young performers but that is more of a theater school type thing. if not there may be some kind of ametur dramatics kind of thing.
