Antipsychotics - seroquel/quetapine

I was just wondering whether how fast the antipsychotics leave your body, because when I stopped taking them for a few days - the night after I stopped taking them, I was pretty much 'going crazy'. Can that happen so fast? I don't know. Just wondering. Don't want to sound like an idiot when I explain somethign to the Psych..

doctors etc always say to me that it takes most drugs take weeks to come out of your system, however i am very sensitive to medication and have felt the effects in days both stopping them and feeling worse and beginning and feeling a bit better. Basically, they are talking scientifically. Only you know how you feel. As a psychiatric nurse said to me a few months ago, "we (humans) dont have a clue about the brain in reality" and they dont. Ok they know more than the average joe bloggs but really know very little. So tell the doctor how you feel, he may accept it he may not, but only you know.

if you came of the full dosage straight away then you the effects of it will probably leave u feeling a bit wierd. if you are worried about the withdrawls you need to let your doctor know

Bearing in mind that antipsychotics have a sedating effect usually, that can wear off towards the next dose, it's easy to feel like you're flipping out if you miss a dose, because that sedating effect that keeps you level (or even, er, sedated!) isn't there anymore. I'm not sure how quickly actual psychosis can return though. I think my symptoms are partly linked with my mood so I can develop a sort-of psychotic anxiety when I'm feeling less sedated/more agitated.

seroquel was horrendous for me when i tried to stop taking it. i felt sick, my mood went from manic every few hours to sick every few hours. after a few days i gave up and went back on it. i felt the effects pretty quickly after stopping it too so i don't think that's unusual. anyway it's the only med i've not been able to come off of that i wanted to, so you may want to try going through a dr to stop taking it.
