General Medical Question - Non Urgent - frequent urination

I find that I go to the toilet way too often. I know when you drink water, you will pass it out of your system, but this feels too much. Its like I cant hold any water. During the day I drink about 2 litres of water, but Im finding Im going to the toliet every 15 mins or so. After going to the toilet if I drink a few mouthfuls of water I will need to toilet soon after. When I go to the toilet my urine is basically clear in colour.

This happened over a month ago and although my urine was clear of infections I was put on antibiotics (which I became really ill on).

Im half tempted to stop drinking as much water, more so when I know I have to go out.

Any ideas of what it could be or what I could do?

Are you often tired?

Maybe pop to your doctor for a quick diabetes test

hi,
I find Im tired from going to the toilet so often. It kind of wears me out, I kind of feel like its more to do with me not being able to hold onto fluids. I have noticed this happen even when I dont drink as much water. For example I could use the toilet, have a tea and within 20 mins I will need the toilet. I think I will keep an eye on how it is for the next few days, then try and book an appointment with a gp.

MeaCulpa is right, you should probably get a diabetes test. Frequent urination is a major symptom.
Try not to worry about it though, it could be that you have a weak/small bladder.

worth speaking to your doctor about as it can be diabetes and it can also be a water infection or other type of infection like kidney. your doctor should be able to run a few simple tests to rule out all the possibities.

thanks for your replies. Ive seen a gp, they said my urine seemed ok, but will still send it off for tests. I also need to have a fasting blood glucose. Does anyone know how many hours it is before you have to go without eating/drinking before the blood test (not sure if its 8 or 12 hours). I stupidly forgot to ask. I know I cant do anything until the results come back, but Im slightly worried. I seem to be losing weight without even trying to, feeling really tired, I woke up in the early hours of the morning to go to the toilet and straigh afterwards I was really thirsty/hungry (almost like I was completely empty). I also seem to be getting a heavy head (like a headache is going to come on) this comes in with the tiredness. My gp said to go back next week with the results, but that seems a long time when I feel like this. Im almost underweight at the moment and seem to be losing weight by the day. I just generally feel unwell. Sorry to go on, just concerned.

It's 12 hours for fasting glucose. I had it a while back.

If you get the glucose test done in the morning it's not so bad - most of the time you can't eat/drink for you'll be asleep.

Keep us updated with what's happening.

yeah 12 hours.
you will need to wait for the results before to come back to the doctors which is why you have to wait so long.

Your urine is meant to be clear and not yellow. It's clear from the amount of water you drink. Nothing to worry about.

they always tell me nothing to eat or drink after 10pm the night before, one cup of black tea without sugar in the morning if you want, water as and when you want it. don't overdo it though, it could dilute results.
