Ideas of what this could be?
ok. so when I was 12 I was diagnosed with major depression and put on Prozac, it worked a bit but I got taken off it....that was 7 years ago...I know I have depression but for the last three years I've been having racing thoughts, like I can't ever sleep anymore because my mind never shuts up, I think about everything, all the time. I have sever mood swings, like one minute I'm happy and the next I can't sit still, my brain cant shut up and I'm angry and blowing up at people for either no reason or the littlest things. then I go from that to feeling like the world is over.
everyone's told me that, that's signs of Bipolar disorder and BD is usually genetic..I have no way to tell if it runs in my family because my father's adopted, but he's on Anti-depression medication, for what, I have no idea.
I'm losing friends because they can never chart what my moods are gunna be like, any help? or suggested diagnoses? I need something to go on when I talk to a doctor about this.

What you've said, as you probably know already, are typical symptoms of a manic episode in Bipolar Disorder. It doesn't have to be genetic, there are many other reasons why someone might develop these symptoms. A mood stabliser such as Depakote (semisodium valproate) might help.

Hey everyone,
quick message.
Can you please try to refrain from diagnosing each other. Only a qualified psych doctor can do that and anything else is just speculation. Perhaps speak to your doctor if you are unsure of your diagnosis.
thanks

any doctor should only go on your symptoms. any self diagnosis or diagnostic suggestions from others can be misleading and the last thing you want is a misdiagnosis (cos some doctors can be sloppy with how they respond to patients presenting their needs) resulting in a treatment pathway that could take years to redirect (i've known this to happen to several people)

As said above you need a doctor for a diagnosis. In the UK they'd be reluctant to jump to conclusions because of your age - they don't like to diagnose under 18 and your not that far over, and also they'd want to see you over a period of time, so it might take a while to get to the bottom of it.

You need to see a doctor. Only a doctor can tell you what is wrong and if you require medication.
Good luck.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
