I'm not putting names or people in here. That really isn't the intention of this thread. And I'm sorry if what I say is a serious overreaction or offensive to anybody.
I was in chat in serious and a conversation was occurring about drinking. Discussion about getting drunk and such. And when I commented on this being possibly inappropriate my comment was ignored.
Conversation then went on to getting 'laid'. I know I probably reacted to this in a way most members won't but it made me feel really quite uncomfortable. But I don't think it is just me who would react this way.
Is this inappropriate conversation for the serious room?
I know the mods have an extremely difficult time controlling what is said in chat, and I'm sure there is very little more that could be done to enforce the rules.
Without knowing what was said, it's hard to tell whether it was inappropriate or not. But since you said this occured in Serious, and the description of the conversation sounds rather casual, chances are it was.
As far as enforcing these rules is concerned, yes, things can be done. If no moderator happens to be in chat, feel free to PM one who is online on the user list - we're the green people - and ask them to come in. Sadly, we can't be everywhere all the time ;)
If that isn't an option, you could help us out a lot by sending us a chat log of the conversation - even if you're not sure whether it's against the rules or not, it's better to be safe than sorry, and it's what we're here for, after all.
Hope you're well, take care.

if you feel something is inappropriate you could try coping it and then pasting it in a pm to a mod.
things are often said that one person may not agree with and they have every right to voice that.
dont feel like you are being ignored cuz there are always people out there that will listen to what you ave to say
it kinda depends how it was done. serious is for support, so if they were talking about it for support, i don't see a problem with it. but i find many times people just chit chat in serious, which is what general is for. so there is a chance it was inappropriate.
If you're unsure whether the conversation is right or not for the room, there's no harm in contacting us and we'll take a look for you (either at the room at the time or the log afterwards ;) )

I didn't want to get anybody in trouble I don't think.
Gosh, ha, that would make me feel dreadful. =/ (I'm a loser, clearly).
It was basically said in a,
"I have ***amount of alcohol and I'm going to get drunk."
"Me too."
"Cool!"
sort of way.
Then,
"Are you going to get laid?"
I just wanted to know if that kind of conversation is actually permitted in there. I know I'm an absolute drama queen and I don't want to cause problems where there are none (which I do frequently enough as it is).
Only, if that kind of chat occurs a lot, I should avoid the place.
i doubt that would be considered appropriate for serious. i personally don't notice that type of chat when i go in there. maybe it's just when i go. it's usually very supportive with the exception of a few members who decide they are going to refuse help and blame others. but that's generally the exception.
General - Everything General - banter/sex/alcohol/random conversations.
Mostly General - Pretty much the same as above, mostly general is where general conversation will take main center over support as it's a mostly general area, although some people will be willing to support - but don't be upset if you don't recieve it as most people are in this room because they're unable to support/don't want to support and just want to chat.
Mostly Serious - Is for mostly serious topics - where serious chat should take center stage, general chit chat can be had in here but should really be kept to the general chat areas if possible.
Completely Serious - Is for completely serious conversations - no normal chit chat is allowed in this room, and most people unless in a bad mindset avoid it. If you see someone talking normally in this room you need to politely remind them they're in the wrong room - if this doesn't work a chat mod is usually floating about in one of the other rooms so go grab one of them - if it continues after the mod warning then save the chat log and pass it onto a chat moderator.
Most people who I have come across that will say those sorts of things will not go into serious for prolongued periods of time, in my expeience. Just a quick reminder should be ok for them :)
Haha, thanks isoverity.

You're certainly not a drama queen at all and like the mods have said they can't be everywhere at all times so by drawing attention to something that could break the rules you're helping them to do their job. Even if you're unsure about something at least you've done your bit and then you can leave it up to them to make the final decision. It helps to keep Chat running smoothly :)
You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you wish to make.
Don't feel bad -it really depends- i've had a few quite negative experiences in chat. it may or may not have been against the rules, i have no idea, depends on the context, but it seems like it. if you feel iffy copy/paste a chat log and send to a mod. they won't get in trouble just because you report them.
