Triggering (SI/ED) - How to help a housemate with OCD and anorexia...
Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could help. Even just an insight would be good. As far as I'm aware, who I'm talking about isn't on this site, so I hope it's OK. I posted this in vets, but realised there's more people here so sorry if you've already read it.
I'm staying at my boyfriend's student house for the summer. One of his housemates has had a bit of a rough time in the past with problems, mainly anorexia. She's been OK for a couple of years, but she's starting to slip back. She had a load of tough exams and failed one of them as well as not finishing her recent placement for uni, which probably hasn't helped anything.
She was talking with me the other day about self harming and stuff, and how it's getting bad again, and her boy really doesn't know how to help. And also that she has OCD, and that's starting to get in the way of her life... My boy was talking to her, and said she's seen a doctor recently. But he also said he hasn't seen her eating in ages. And I haven't seen her eat a alot either, apart from chocolate when we're drinking. I'm worried she's drinking more nights than she isn't too.
So we're quite concerned. Since she's seeing someone at the moment, that's good. But I don't know how to support her, I can't relate to OCD or anorexia. And I'd really like to try and help, but I don't know how. It's great she feels she can talk, but is there anything I can do?
