Zoloft?

I started taking Zoloft about a week and a half ago and it's made me even worse! My depression, my "weird hyperness and irritability". I'm having awful mood swings. I already talked to my psych and she said for me to stay on it. >.> Has anyone else experienced mood swings with Zoloft?

I've been on it for about 3 weeks and haven't experienced anything like this.
The only side effects I get are dizziness and feeling sick.
It might be a good idea to talk with your psych about it again.

Ask her how long she wants you to stay on it - maybe she wants to see if the initial effects will wear off?

give it a bit more time and see if things worsen or get better. It will also be a good idea to keep in close contact with your psych about how the meds are going so that if things get worse suddenly, your psych can either switch you or reduce/increase dose to better work for you

hey there,
i was on zoloft for a while and i had very bad effects to it and as a result had to be taken off it. it made me sick and i had no moods at all along with other symptoms.
stay on it or maybe two more weeks and see how you go, but probably talk too your psych and see if they can take you off it and on to another med if the effects are really making you loopy

Definately keep in contact with your doc, until things settle. As the others have said it may calm down with time. HOWEVER do be careful, if it's sertraline, i was on that and I had incredible mood swings for about four months before i went really loopy and the doc finally agreed it wasnt right. Remember you know yourself better than they do, so just make sure your concerns are heard.

Thanks for the replies! Well, I talked to my psych again and told her how horrible it was making me feel. So she took me off of it, but the mood swings are still there. I'm going to my psych today to take some tests to further find out my diagnosis. *crosses fingers* Hope it goes well!

I had those kind of effects severely with prozac (fluoxetine) and bad with lexapro, which are all in the same family. i'm bipolar, so if i don't have enough mood stabilizers with an anti-depressant i get manic and depressed really crazy often. so definitely keep talking to your doctor about it.

Yeah. She thought I had bipolar, but I just have a "mood disorder", since I'm only only a teenager. The same thing happened to my mom. She has bipolar and anti-depressants make her really manic.
