College Help?
Okay here's the deal- it's a bit of a rant too, so please bear with me. If you can give me any advice at all I would appreciate it greatly.
To begin with, my parents are in the process of divorce- which started around january. Since then, our financial situation has been REALLY tight. So imagine my joy when I get the results to my fafsa back and the school i really wanted to go to sent me my financial aid package. Everything was covered- scholarships and grants added up to about $20,000 and loans were about $18,000. So May 1st rolls around and my family doesn't have the money to pay tuition and room and board deposit. bout $500. Which I didn't think would be a big deal- the loans/scholarships would help cover that. Well toward the middle of may, I get a letter in the mail that says my dad didn't file his taxes- the forms needed to be in for me to get my financial aid. Well, the thing is my dad adjusted his income on the fafsa to make up for the divorce- so i guess it wasn't really his "true income". Thanks dad! Being the procrastinator he is, he put off filing the forms and fixing them even when i incessantly nagged him. He still hasn't done it.
I found out today that my mom had called the admissions office at the school and had actually got ahold of them to see if we could sort things out before orientation- It's this weekend, and of course it's going to cost a ridiculous amount. I have to go if i want to attend school there.
But since this whole tax thing is messed up and funds are rather low, I have no idea what's going on... I have no idea what to do. I just need someone to give me some advice or just listen...
Either way thank you so much for reading this. It helped a little that I got to vent.
