A sort of follow-on from the uni students' thread. Just wondering what everyone's doing/planning to do after uni.
Theoretically, I'm getting experience working with people with mental health problems, maybe behavioural problems.
In practice, I am failing. *headdesk*
So . . . what's everyone else doing after uni?

Not quite left yet, got another year to go, but this summer I'm hoping to get some work experience and then when I graduate go on to do a masters degree in town planning and then get a job as a planner. Sometime in the future I'd love, love, love to do a geography PhD though.
I still have at least 2 years left... but I have been thinking about this. I've always always wanted to be a writer. And I've been wondering what I should I do with that. I would also love to work in the mental health area.. but somewhere where I can put my writing to good use. I have no idea LOL! I am just going to go with the flow... and see what happens..
I'm getting bored of filling in application forms now. Trying to write a cover letter to go with an application to be an assistant in some drugs research (which could be quite fun), and another application for some effectiveness of therapies research. But I'm useless at making myself sound good. Sigh.
Had an interview to be a teaching assistant on Monday but didn't get the job.
Am looking for anything at this point that will get me some money in. There is still a line drawn before I apply to McDonald's, but the line is getting closer as other options run out!
Think this is one of the worst years to be leaving uni with the economic climate (which I have never cared about before! Lol!) the way it is. Sigh.

Thank you. :) I'm just feeling sorry for myself to be honest. Lol! Had my little mental plan of leaving uni, going straight into a research job that I enjoyed, then getting onto the doctorate I want to do. Real life doesn't work out that simply.
Yes, our year is lame. Top up fees and a recession. Personally, I think they should reimburse us the amount extra we paid in top-up fees to make up for the recession. Lol!
The drugs research posts are looking at the effects of cannabis and ketamine on young people which just sounds like the kind of thing I could actually get excited about and get really involved in. But I don't want to sounds over-enthusiastic in the application in case they question why I'm so interested in that specific research. Maybe I'm just being paranoid about that.
ho hum, back to bigging myself up!

Thanks, will see if I can get something in about that.
Just remembered I took a unit called Brain and Behaviour last year which I'm sure is relevant to this. Just got to try to remember some of the topics we studied in it. . . I'm such a useless student. Lol!

I finished a few weeks ago and I'm still looking for work. I had to move back in with my parents because I couldn't afford rent anymore - and I'm pretty sure that I've failed my course.
But alas, I'm doing my best to shove a foot in the music industry door by volunteering at a bunch of music festivals doing the sound engineering and I'm helping refurbish a local radio station also for free.
Would like some money though.

Even if you're not getting paid it's good experience and you're making yourself known to people in the industry etc.
I'm moving home for the same reason - can't afford to do anything other than move home! Had so many plans for the year after uni. Being broke and living at home wasn't one of them. :(
