RYL & IE Tabs

Hey,

I'm going to find this a bit difficult to explain, but I'll try anyway!

I can be going about my usual RYL business, browsing, replying, etc, without an issue, and then I'll randomly get a fairly big problem. What will happen is that I'll open up another RYL tab in the same IE window, but it won't fully load. It will start loading, and if I go back to see if it's registered me as having read the posts it will have, but the content will never load for me to view the page. If I leave it long enough, and by this I mean around 5 minutes, the page will send me a typical "we can't find this page" type screen, and that'll be it. From them on in often RYL then won't load properly in that window, and I'll have to open up a new one, copy and paste the pages I wanted, and view them in new tabs in a new window. This will then work all correctly and quickly, until it then decides to get all un-load-y and slow, and I have to do the same thing again.

I don't seem to get this with any other website, and have no idea what is causing it. Sometimes it will be fine, and I won't get the problem for a while. Other times, like this morning, I will constantly have to keep copying links over to new windows because pages fail to load. It seems strange to me that sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't, and that new windows & tabs then let the pages load.

Any suggestions as to where the problem lies?
Is it my Internet browser, RYL, or something else?
Is it because I have too many RYL tabs open at the same time? But although that can sometimes trigger it going all wrong, sometimes it can happen with just 2 or 3 RYL tabs.

Thanks,

Rach xx

Oh, & by the way, this is a problem I've had for a bit.
It hasn't occured after the recent update, or that soon before it.

My first thought would be that's it's just IE. Have you tried doing the same thing in Firefox or another browser?

I've had that same problem with RYL in both IE and Firefox. It's never happened in Opera though.

Well switching to Firefox has really helped with that particular problem - RYL is a lot quicker now, the tabs all open fine, etc.

I just find Firefox really clunky and unpleasant to use. :(
Might keep trying some other web browsers too, to see if I can find something else that works well but that I like using.

Thanks guys, x

Edit - Safari works really well, and I prefer it. Yay!

Rach, you can always change the themes on firefox too, if you don't like it :)

But glad you've found one that works and you like!

Do you have IE8? If so are are you running it in "compatibility mode"?
Some Add-ons can also choke IE. Real Players "Download Video" function is one.
