This has probably been brought up numerous times, and I really don't want to offend anyone/seem like I'm echoing other people/be unhelpful in general, but I just have some suggestions.
First off, I think it's great that we have boards that are purely for community building; General Chat, F+D, etc. But, this is a self- harm support site, and it seems to me like the actual supporting of self harm is getting to be less and less, with more and more trigger warning labels and editing of triggering things in posts, etc., it's just sort of ending up like any support other site on the internet.
Of course I know that self harm is used because of deeper problems in your life, and those must be discussed and solved before you can fix it, so I wholeheartedly agree with having the Abuse and Bullying Support forum, and the General Support and Advice Forum, etc. However, shouldn't all the boards, except maybe F+D, be more about relating SI to different aspects of our lives, instead of separating them all out?
I think that it's better to talk about everything, and sort through it rather than edit all the things we don't like out.
I'm not saying we should have a "free discussion" board. In fact, I think RYL is in a pretty good place, besides the fact that it seems like everything is starting to seem a little less about recovering from SI.
All of this is just how I perceive it, just being one of many, many members.
I know that once I hear a few other ideas about this subject, I'll probably just feel really silly about saying all of this.
That you for anyone who took the time to read this, it really means a lot.
Just because we have different boards doesn't mean we're not focusing on support or recovering from SI. Everyone in the boards will have likely encountered self harm at some point in their life.
We're just giving them more "specialised" support for whatever reasons brought them to self-harm, in turn bringing them to self-harm.
I agree with what your sayin but i think its a good site, the F&D boards are good all of them are . Because the way i see it yes they may be MH & ED board but a number of people if not all of us could have come across SH because of MH problems or ED problems.
I understand what your saying thou

I don't see the problem with having a support side and a social side to the site. Sometimes people come here not for support, but for banter, and they feel comfortable and accepted here. And it's not all about tackling your **** head on, sometimes you just need a distraction, and general chat or F&D can do that, and it helps.

Yeah, I disappeared for a while there :P
Mom found out about SI, had to lay low cause she was keeping an eye on me. I was kinda worried that she might have seen this and found out through that.....
But anyway...
Yeah, I get what you guys are saying, I agree that it is nice to talk about things that have nothing to do with SI, especially at the point when it's taking over more and more aspects of you life. And I think it's great to have jokes and stuff, and have RYL be more of a community from that :)
I just sometimes think sometimes the reason we're here seems to get a little lost, but maybe that's just me :P
