Safe - Sun Stroke

How soon after the sun burn do you get sun stroke cos I was burnt a lot earlier in the day, like 3pm but now I have just got out of a cool bath and I am shaking and feeling really sick. Im rather scaired, could it be sun-stroke?

Sun stroke is actually heat exhaustion which has gone further, eg left untreated. Heat exhaustion has symptoms such as sickness, headache, weak pulse, high temperature. If you think you have heat exhaustion you need to stay cool and drink plenty of fluids, preferably a sports drink.

If left untreated with fluids and cooling down, you may become confused, have a racing pulse and possible become unconscious. Medical treatment should be sought for this right away.

If you have been out in the sun, I think that it is more likely that you have become dehydrated. Does your tongue appear white? If you pinch your skin does it tend to stay in the same shape for a few seconds?
You need to drink plenty. As mentioned above, a sports drink may also help with any electrolyte imbalances.

Take care

Sun Burn and Heat Stoke aren't quite related like that. You don't have to be out in the sun to get heat stroke, although it is one of the ways. Generally if you have Heat Stroke you will be very very sick, throwing up, notable to think, passed out etc. People with heat stroke are so dehydrated they stop sweating.

What you are possibly experiencing is heat exghaustion. Which is a milder form. You may have also cooled yourself off too much too fast with your bath.

You should stay out of the sun and in a cool (not cold) place. drink lots of fluids like water, juice and sports drinks. Avoid drinking coffee, tea, soda, or anything else with caffine.

You should begin to feel better soon. Howecer if you start shaking, feeling very tired, seeing things, have chest pain or difficulty breathing you should go to A&E right away.

Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.
