It sounds like you're feeling really overwhelmed right now. Your mind fogging up is quite likely related to the intense anxiety that you're experiencing. I am thinking that there's a lot of pressure there, emotional pressure, behind that anxiety.
It is a very wise move to get to your GP. S/he can prescribe some meds. to help ease the worst of it, and sort out any counselling or therapy you might want/need. Also there'll be details s/he'll know about referral places to help you sort out the work and financial side of things.
One thing that you can do right now to help ease the anxiety is to gently focus on your breathing, and really be aware of exhaling, the out-breath. Wiggling your toes and fingers and feeling your feet on the ground is also a good move.
