What makes a good doctor? Asking for experiences :-)

Hey! Hoping to pick some brains! I have a friend who is honestly the most amazing doctor I have worked with, both professionally and personally. She has really low self esteem though and is having a hard time. I could list dozens of reasons why she is great but I was wondering if people could share their own experiences on what makes a good doctor/therapist please? Anecdotes also welcomed

Is she a therapist? If so I can speak from experience. Just about every therapist, if not all, have had some doubt at times throughout their career. It's not an easy field and often there is so much gray area/different treatment ideas among providers. Everyone does their best with their training and experience. Sometimes things can be more of a trail and error thing to find what helps someone the most. Just the fact that she is concerned about it shows that she really cares and wants to do the best for her clients which says a lot.

Forget the risk and take the fall if it's what you want it's worth it all

If they listen and offer different options, that's good. If they don't have any ideas, just be clear about that so you can look for support elsewhere.

Someone with excellent communication skills and is approachable and relatable helps and also someone with good empathy and can take multiple factors into account and doesn't say stuff like "You've got dyspraxia, that's the reason for a, b or c" or "it's common for people with depression to get headaches" or "you just need to read a book and distract yourself"

Have you ever confused a dream with life? Or stolen something when you have the cash? Have you ever been blue? Or thought your train moving while sitting still? Maybe I was just crazy. Maybe it was the 60's. Or maybe I was just a girl... interrupted.
I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. I tried groups, didn't work out just made my depression a lot worse.
