Grabbing my bag, I run to him. He stands in shock as the blood runs through his fingers, already pooling on the ground. I search for the med kit I always keep for emergancies, not worth using on my shallow cuts of this morning. I pull out packets of gauze and a bandage.
"Hold out your arm."
Taking control, I swiftly move his hand and clap the gauze over the wound. In the few seconds it is uncovered, I see that it is not very deep and the blood is already slowing. It isn't deep enough to need stitches, and so I bind the gauze to his arm with the bandage, securing it in place.
"Sit down, you might feel faint for a bit." I push him gently to the floor, recognising the symptoms of shock. Turning, I search through my bag for my bottle of water, but when I look back, he's watching me, eyes pouring with tears. His hand reaches out for me, and without thinking, I go to him, allowing myself to be pulled into his lap. From centimeters away, I can see every tear trapped in the spiderweb of his eyelashes. I gently kiss them away, tasting the salt of his tears on my lips. He leans into me, pressing his forehead against mine.
"I'm so sorry, Ryan. I never meant to hurt you. There isn't anything I can say that will let you know how much I regret it."
"It won't stop you though, will it?? I don't mean enough to you. You won't even try. I can't do this anymore."
As a sob catches in my throat, he tilts his chin towards me. Instead of the chaste goodbye kiss I was expecting, however, his lips bruise against mine, the months of deceit, and lies, clear in his touch. Almost without realising it, I kiss him back, forcing all my pain, all my sorrow into it. As the kiss deepens, I feel him relax against me, for once forgetting the arguments, forgetting my mistakes and his anger. We were just two people again, two people who loved each other and would be together forever.
With a low moan, he ran his hand up my back to cradle my head, and in the same movement rolled me over until I was lying on the ground with him above me. I feel him pressed against the front of me, and I can read the thought in his eyes. With my arms pinned above my head, I cannot fight back. He is free to take the one thing I have always denied him. I see the desire melt into shock as I shift slightly beneath him, showing him how willing I am.
"No more holding back, Ryan, I promise. No more lies."
"I love you, you know that, don't you?? I will always love you. But right now, we shouldn't do this."
With that, he climbed to his feet and walked away. I curled into a ball beneath the trees and cried. I had offered him what he had wanted, and he had rejected me. I guess I wasn't even good enough for him, in the end.
Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind.
To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse.
To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.
To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better.

well... I have pingu. and a choc penguin which loks at you innocently when you try to eat it (that's why I couldn't) and... and... a piece of string tied round my keyboard shelf coz its broken and...and... a big box of 50 colouring pencils whch is brand new and... cheese from Holland and... *shuts up*
