I managed to get some books out in the end, I'll be heading down to my parent's place in the morning, hopefully I'll be able to get some work done. I won't be back on the forums until I get back to uni since I don't want to leave RYL on my parent's browsing history whilst at home, so I'll update when I get back...

As a little kid you believed in fairytales,
that fantasy of what your life would be: white dress; prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill.
You closed your eyes and had complete and utter faith.
Eventually you grow up. One day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears.
But the thing is, it's hard to let go of that fairytale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith,
that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

I hate having to travel for an hour and a half each way for a one hour lecture. Seems so pointless.

^ Be yourself, don't panic, go through the reasons why you want to do nursing, what interests you about. If you have a group interview, speak up. Show lots of enthusiasm. What uni is it for?

Theres not a group interview thankfully, but there is a group presentation I have to take part in as well as an individual interview, which is worrying me! I can be quite a shy, quiet person, so I know i'm gonna have to just bite the bullet and speak up or I won't make an impression. And its for Sheffield Hallam :)

^ Also acting confident makes you seem confident. I found it helped to calm my nerves by researching a bit more about nursing and the role Florence Nightingale played, but that was uni specific for me. Definately research the department and the uni though.

i never had to do an interview to get into uni, but I remember a lot of my friends had them and they freaked out loads, but they did then say the best thing to do is just be honest and explain everything in your own time and language and don't be someone who you aren't.

hope it goes well. x

Hey guys. I need advice.
I'm seriously considering withdrawing from college, because I'm not really handling it. But on the other hand, I'm thinking, what if I'm just overeacting? At the moment I've 4 overdue assignments that I've received extensions for, and that are due before the end of this week, and I've got hardly anything done. Whenever I try to do some work on them, I start panicking. It's all too much.
Should I leave? What do you think? Or what else could I do?

That's a pretty big decision to be making. Can you talk to a tutor or someone about it? The halfway point might be to ask about taking some time out so you're not throwing everything away but can have a break to sort things out for yourself.
If you want to stick with it then maybe try and get some study advice so you can get through they work.

I think I'm going to try and speak to my head of school or course coordinator to see what they say. I'm leaning more towards taking a leave of absence for a semester to get my head together, but with psychology, that can cause problems due to the way courses are interconnected, and the way I have to have certain ones completed before I can do other ones, so coming back in September might not work as smoothly as for other courses. The problem now is that I'm not going to be able to see the head of school before Tuyesday, and my essay extensions are until the end of the week, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that.
Why does it all have to be so complicated?

maybe you could just send an email now and then maybe, even though they are over due try to do a bit of work? that way when you do have ameeting to discuss it they know you have tried to do work

sorry if that makes no sense, my head is a shed today.
