I've never noticed this thread before! How odd?!
Hello! *waves*
I'm waiting for an appointment with a psychologist. This will be the third mental health person.
The OCD is so bad at the moment. The hand washing especially, my hands are always bleeding.
Anyways...how is everyone?

bad, sorry to hear its bad for u aswell.
ive been a lot of professionals, been seeing them since i was 7, im now almost 17.
sucks but i guess thats just how it is with me.
I'm starting to wonder if anyone is ever going to be able to help me.
Before though, I didn't think it was a problem at all, I was more bothered about my other problems.
This time, I know it's a problem and want help with it.
So hopefully I'll get somewhere now I realize it is a problem.
Has anyone helped you a little bit? Or a type of therapy?

I've had CBT twice but I totally don't think it's going to work.
I'm hoping this one will do something different.

Hey Jayne, sorry to hear about what you are going through. Sometimes I feel like my OCD isn't a problem, it's just how I live my life. And sometimes it's just terrible. CBT is supposed to help, because it is about addressing and challenging core beliefs, which is what drives compulsive behaviour. Personally I tried CBT once but the therapist wasn't great, and at the moment my OCD isn't the top priority with the mental health people for me... Wish you all the best though, let us know how it all goes. Don't give up hope either. You deserve better than this
That's just how I feel, sometimes I think it's just who I am but then other times I think it's completely not normal and needs to be sorted.
If I do have to have CBT I am going to try, I'm going to try and forget about the last time and go in open minded.
I'll keep you updated
I can't believe I never knew this thread was here! Gosh!

Hey Broken Smiles. My hands are often bleeding due to excessive washing and I find Norwegian Forumula Hand cream, the concentrated one, works well. I don't like having sticky hands though, as they then feel unclean, so I have a pair of moisturising gloves. I put quite a lot on and then cover them so I can't see my hands, and leave them on as I sleep.
I don't know whether that will work for you or not, but it might and I do find the cream works very well. Also, what soap do you use to wash your hands? I find that some soaps dry my hands out and then they crack. It looks like my hand is made up of jigsaw pieces! Others don't cause them to be so bad.... Maybe changing soaps would be an idea? (Mum brought me a sensitive one and it actually made them 10x worse!)
I currently have CBT. I've been under MHS since I was 7 for OCD and PTSD. I have been having CBT for 3 years now, but it isn't just for OCD, it's all complex and I won't bore you with the details..... But give it a go. Take it as a fresh start, you might be at a point where you can deal with it better and work through things more now.

Sorry Banana, I know this was actually written to Jayne, but just wanted to pick out that part of your post. I am very much the same. Some of the things I do just seem to be who I am, it's weird, I don't even think 'I'm the only one who does this', it's like part of me just accepts this is life and this is what people do. There are other times when it's unbearable and it's those times that I realise that this isn't just 'life' and 'the way it is'.... x

I love the Norwegian Hand Creme too! I discovered it like two years ago and was just like 'wow' hehe. Like you, I hate the feeling of it and hate the thought of it going on my face, so those gloves would perfect. Do yo think you can get them in a supermarket?
I use antibacterial soaps mostly which I prefer for obvious reasons. I know i should really use a moisturising one or a one for dry skin, I'll need to work on that.
I think a part of me likes the stinging feeling of putting creme on my hands if they're really bad, I suppose it's a form of self harm. I like the pain and then the comfort but then again I don't choose to do it, I just can't help it. I don't know.
Thank you for the advice!

You can get them in the supermarket, or body shop or somewhere like that. They do sell them in Tesco though. x

I use washing up liquid or antibac - I find the antibacterial most useful because then I feel like I'm doing everything I can? Then again, if you're washing your hands properly anyway it shouldn't matter what type it is really. x

Wanted to pick up on this. I am exactly the same. I've never admitted it to anyone because it's just something I've done, but yup. The same. Do you think it's something you could talk to someone about?

Hey Everyone, hope you don't mind me joining the thread. I apparently have 'serious' OCD because of a phobia I have - emetophobia *fear of being sick*.
