Hmm I dunno Jacie, how would you even go about it without having them slam the door in your face, b/c in my experience the church doesn't usually like to admit that these are issues that affect the "churched" population and even less to admit that it affects the "churched" population sitting in their own pews every week. Tom: I do, just because I don't want the questions, the pitying looks, the "what did I do wrong's", the judgment or the constant scrutiny to see if I'm still doing it. Because I know that's what it'll come down to, and she'll blame herself no matter what I tell her. I think she's been through journals I used to keep in the past so I think she knows and just doesn't want to confront me b/c she doesn't think I know that she does.

Tom: I wish she didn't but she had a habit of just coming in and going through my room when I wasn't home and I noticed that some of them had pages torn out(including ones that I wrote about my father and my sexual harassment (and certainty I was going to be raped at one point) from an old family friend on a fishing trip, written in way more detail then anyone needed to know) so I promptly quit keeping them, if I can't keep them private then I won't keep them at all, if I wanted you to know this stuff I would have told you myself....which sucks b/c I'm a writer, always have been so I've now got a binder of writing I keep with me and hopefully no one ever gets ahold of it it's got some pretty damning evidence of my SI and whatnot lol I just hate that a lot of my old stuff was lost when I got rid of the journals.....but it had to be done, took a long time before I could even write again, but I'm slowly coming back, I'm just a little too paranoid about people being anywhere near that binder lol

Tears of Blood: i'm so sorry! I'm a writer as well, and I don't know what I would do if my private writing was ever violated or if it was damaged or taken away. I sympathize greatly. Is there a place for you to maybe lock your writing up so your parents cant take it? Or maybe if you typed it onto a flash drive that you could password protect or something? i'm not sure of your rescources so those are just ideas...

Tears - I can't imagine how violated you feel having your journals read. I would literally be devistated if anyone read mine without my concent and I'm truly blessed that my parents respect my privacy. Maybe you could learn a different writing system if Crash's flash drive idea doesn't work? I know you can find many differnt alphabets online, or you could make up you own.

I'm not doing great. My world was rocked earlier this week, and I'm having so many meetings to try and gain safety again. I hate how it seems that once you hit rock bottom, the bottom gives out and you fall even lower. I hate it.

Unfortunately, the second we feel comfortable and at home on this earth, God tends to shake things up--a reminder that we don't belong here, but with him. CS Lewis once said that God always gives us struggles in this life, that he makes sure we are always facing things we cant quite figure out. And that his reason is so we will remember, this world is not our home. If you have a great day, enjoy time with friends, eat a good meal...those things are good. But God will always remind us that this world is just an inn. We are just passing through. It's not a destination, it's a motel.He doesn't let our lives get so solid that we can put our trust in our family, health, talent, friends, church...not completely. He wants us to enjoy those things, but put our trust completely in Him.m

this idea in my head is spiraling out of my control, so I sure hope God's got it all :P

Adamah is a hebrew word that means earth, or dirt. It's where Adam's name came from, because he was created out of the dust of the earth. It's a reminder to all those I want to work with that we are all equal in God's eyes--all of us come from the same dirt, and from dirt at that. So there's no reason to look down on others, to be all...silly and pretentious and judgemental. Instead we're called to love each other and help each other. So...at first, I was thinking that we need to educate churches about SI and ED's, and how to deal with them. But other groups have been brought to my attention too, groups that feel like the church doesn't accept them or have room for them...I know a missionary to people with disabilities, and one to the gothic culture, and they both want in on it. I know a few people who are nonpracticing homosexuals that are interested. People still struggling to heal from childhood trauma that feel like they're looked down on. There are all these people out there that the church just won't acknowledge, and these people feel like they can't speak about their problems. And there are ministries out there to all these groups, and we could work with them to get information to churches. And I really think it might work. Obviously some people are just not going to listen, but...for those who do, it would make everything worth it.

It desperately needs to happen... While church leaders sit around and debate whether Christians can struggle with those sorts of issues, record numbers of us are. it's time for action.
Satan has us convinced that Christians can not struggle with SI, or EDs, or homosexuality, and therefore we don't take these sins/struggles before our Christian brothers and sisters and ask for help... it's a mess.
I'm making an fb group, just to start with. here's the description so far...and yes, it's international. because, well, it already is, supposing you guys all want to join :) i'm planing on using something like bravenet to make a website...unless someone out there knows how to do that? i can manage, but i'm not great at it. hmm...i also (deep breath) plan on *eventually* registering this as a nonprofit organization in the US, which is gonna take some paperwork, but will let us be tax-exempt if we end up taking donations in order to support affiliated ministries, allow us to send materials out, etc. Won't be necessary unless we actually get around to doing that sort of thing, so I'll wait until it happens, if it does, because legal stuff is just...ick. :)

This group is for the self-harmers, the eating disordered, the abused, the depressed, the broken, the disabled, the addicted, the outcasts...and anyone else not mentioned on this list. If you have piercings and brightly colored hair and can't walk into a church without someone trying to convert you even thought you're a christian already...if you've tried and tried and can't pretend you have it all together...if you have any kind of problem that seems taboo in the church today...we're here for you. This group is for the spiritually sick who know they need God, and for the people who love them...and for all the people who are sick and tired of seeing the church turn away all the people that need its help the most, for those who want to help and don't know how to.
Because we're dedicated to changing that. One person at a time.
This organization is just starting up, but we'd love to have you involved. Currently the plan is to provide a bridge for existing ministries to connect with each other, and to provide a resource for those who are frustrated with the fact their churches and ministries seem to not know how to deal with problems in today's world. We aim to be an organization that can help YOU be an agent of change wherever you are right now, to support you and be here when you feel like giving up. Brothers and sisters, the situation isn't hopeless...and we are going to do everything we can to help, whether that means providing books and pamphlets, or the contact information of someone who can advise you because they have experience in reaching these people.
