Mand, have you tried Aptamil or a soya formula? Might be an intolerance. Maybe ask to be referred to a paediatrician too?

Reusable nappies are brill by the way, we use them 24/7, no leaks or nappy rash. Before we settled on the right ones though, we had the Nature Babycare and didn't have any probs with them either.

This is a lovely thread ladies :)

Btw, on SIDs, the FSID website has alot of good information; with sleeping on their front etc, i think it's important just to be aware of all the information and take into account other risk (ie prematurity) and watching the temperature.

suffering my first hangover since last year! didnt sleep last night as i was up with my friend all night. freyja was on the bottle today to allow the alcohol to leave my system. she had her first immunisations today and it was heartbreaking!

it really becomes so unimportant once you have the baby. i remember thinking i would have a drink as soon as poss after birth, but with breastfeeding and looking after freyja it just doesnt work out that way, and i have to say i didnt really miss it as much as i thought i would.
i think i could really live without alcohol, especially after the way i felt yesterday. my partner is battling alcoholism anyway, so i dont drink in his company any more. it just so happened he was working an overnight shift.

it's definatley not an intolerance as the colief would have sorted that and an outright allergy would make her really ill (sick as well as bad tummy) and she wouldn't be gaining weight as well (1/2 a pound a week).

she's on cow and gate now, it's more expensive, there's less in the carton and you have to give them more. she seems to be hungry all the time now. teething is really kicking in, she is always munching on whatever she can get in her mouth, the edge of her tops, her dresses, her fists, my bra straps...

we'll see if this cow and gate has a positive effect... the lactulose certainly did nothing for her.

Mand - I hope you get things worked out soon x

Rusty and I just went to look in a baby shop in town, just to have a look around. We've got most things we'll need for the baby. Our list left to get is:

Equipment for expressing milk inc. bottles, steriliser, freezer bags/pots so that Rusty can feed him sometimes.

Baby sling so my joints don't get worse from carrying him in my arms.

New mattress for the cot we were given.

Baby monitor and sensor pad.

Overall, I think we need to spend about another £200 to get what we need (a large proportion of that being on the monitor), and the ladies who run the shop - two really nice old dears - said that they can take a deposit, put the stuff we want upstairs and pay for it as and when we can, a bit at a time.

That's taken a weight off my mind, as we'll be able to pay a bit each week.

I have a steriliser and a couple of bottles (and a pump, but it's just a cheap manual one) that you can buy for a couple of quid if you want? I've only used the steriliser once, and one of the bottles once - I could bring it to the meet if you do want it. I think it's a tommee tippee microwave and steam steriliser.

I also have a mei tai I can bring with me if you want to try it out and see if it'd suit you? I just sold my ring sling as well, they're good for new babies - I could have given you it!

I'm going to look like a packhorse carrying all this stuff and Oliver haha. It's one of these and I think we have 3 closer to nature bottles. Do you want the pump as well? I could never manage to express very well, but it's just a Boots one.

It''ll be nice to actually show my carriers to someone who's interested - everyone I know just thinks they're weird!

I'd love the pump if you dont need it. can stick it all in boot of car when you arrive so wont need to carry it around all day. I think the whole 'baby-wearing' thing is great, its especially good for me cos i have problems with my arm so it'll be painfree way to carry him around.

Is this just me? But when I first gave birth it was like all my stomach muscles were completely gone. And it took a couple of months for me to get them back enough to be able to carry madeleine in a sling. But I see other mum's carrying very new babies in slings. So maybe it was me.

I had a bit of a strange birth actually. The pain didn't go away once Madeleine was out. I was still contracting and still in an awful lot of pain for some time afterwards. But other mum's say the pain went straight away.

Fallen Flame, goodness me! baby will be along soon! Good luck with things, I hope everything goes smoothly and you get your housing sorted out. I moved house two weeks before I gave birth - the good thing about being heavily pregnant was I didn't have to carry any boxes or really help at all! I just sat in my chair while everyone else did all the work!

Try to take things easy and try not to worry too much - you don't want to go into labour in the midst of moving! I know when we moved, I said to Pete - 'I might help but I'd rather you didn't expect me to do anything. I'll do my best but if you're not expecting anything I won't feel any pressure and I won't get stressed'. It worked well.

If I were a bird - fish
My wings I would spread
I'd swoop over you
And plop on your head.

i like different names! you may change your mind when you see babs, i know i did, but other people kept names...im sure mand had chloe named before she arrived. dont panic, just relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy - hard as it may be! i remember folk saying that to me and thinking how can i enjoy THIS?? but i wish i was doing it all over again!

hefalump, my tummy muscles went weird when i gave birth, i remember the midwife saying they had split or sumthing like that? they seem ok now though. i dont know if the pain went away after birth as i had an epidural, but my bits were really sore soon after. i had bad after pains too. they were ok most of the time, usually appearing when i was feeding. but there was a few occassions when the pain was so bad, it was like being in labour again and i once found myself on my hands and knees panting - now that WAS like being in labour!

Mine hasn't yet and Oliver's nearly 6 months old - every day I have to battle against my hormones which are telling me now is the perfect time for the next baby!

my parents are down this weekend to try and get my house in to shape, I feel like the fat controller, giving orders but not helping. I went to work this afternoon, which made me feel better because I felt like I was doing something worthwhile. But I finish on Wednesday and know that that is when the worry and stress will really set in. I'm scared I'll be totally isolated when I no longer have work, because apart from Ernie, that's the only contact I have with people. I few of the girls there said they'd come and see me at home and I really hope they mean it! I have just over 3 weeks to go!
