^^ Maybe those cute little short sleeve cardigans? I love them... Again dermablend will hide any small scars... the foundation spreads waaay better than the concealer so I find it waaay easier to blend on arms - especially on upper arms (kind of on the inside) where the skin is quite smooth. K dunno if that made any sense at all...

I got an idea...

Well it's not great but its what i have been doing recently as a self harmer i totaly know how it feels when at the beach and everyone is looking at you (in our eyes anyway!) so why not (If we not confident like me!) wear a sweat suit its what surfers wear and we can just pretend we going surfing!

I really need some good advise though as I work at a really difficult job and people here are not allowed to see my arms or basically i will get fired so, has anyone got any idea how i can explain in the summer when wearing short sleeve tops (as cant wear a jumper all my life) what i can say? As they knew i had a time in the past of self harm but i said i stopped but obvously it not that simple so what can i wear/ say etc.....?

Can they actually fire you for that? Doesn't seem quite legal.

to cover scars on your upper arm you could wear long sleeves and then just roll them up - i think that is what i am going to do

i don't know if that will help anyone whatsoever

Hi thanks for the advice, but i dont think it'll work for me i have old scarrs all over one arm, and it does my head in I'd do anything to get rid of them, sick of wearing long sleeve tops. Feel like I can never get over this as the scarrs are always there to remind me not to b happy. :(

most of my scars are on my lower arms and i often wear sweatbands and arm warmers they're great at hiding stuff like scars and tattoos plus you can get loads of different colours and types so you can alternate for different outfits

Sweatband or bandana's keep up the trendiness. random stuff like a bunch of ribbon looks like a nice bracelet.

Sara4ever, to cover your arms could you wear a light weight long sleeve shirt? Like an Oxford Cloth shirt? It isn't totally great for summer weather but it is still lightweight and not hot like a jumper. I wear them in the summer when I go outside to protect my skin from the sun and I find they are less expensive in the mens wear department. Maybe move the button on the cuff to keep it more secure on your wrist?

I sew stuff and there is double sided tape at the fabric store made to hold low necklines in place, it works well on the hems of short sleeves too, I used it once/week for several weeks when I was teaching.

Please pardon if I sound like a know it all.

okayokay i thought i'd share this with you all because it really works for scars.

so i had to go to the beach today, and i have these irritating scars on my ankles that ive been trying to hide for ages. what really seems to work for me, is getting concealer and dabbing it on top of the scars, and then putting powder over it. then using hairspray on top of the concealer and powder (to keep it on) and then put a bit more concealer over it so it doesn't look shiny.

4 to 5 hours, and they stayed completely hidden all day. it was completely waterproof!

make sure your not allergic to your makeup at all though, because a makeup reaction with scar tissue could end pretty badly.
(DONT DO THIS ON FRESH CUTS!)

so ive just been wearing long sleves. for some of my shirts, i put holes in the sleves so i can put my thumbs through so they don't role up.. some people think its tacky, but it works for me. i also have scars on my upper forearm that are kinda awkward.. i figured they are really easy to cover with long sleves, but harder to deal with in the summer. i usually try to wear a bandana over them, and people think im trying to be "ghetto" or "punk", which is fine.. but that can't really work forever. does anyone know something that could cover up that area without looking so suspicious?
also, i have one scar near my wrist that shows. its pretty faded, and people said stuff at first, but i said it was just a scratch, so most people disregard it and it feels better knowing that i don't really have to hide it. so for people that have minor scars, maybe it would be easier and less suspicious if you just let them show (obviously this would only work for some people, but it could help)

I have a really dark, raised scar on my calf that is reall obvious and I'm going on a trip with school to the beach in a few weeks. Most of my friends know about my SI but The teachers might see that one plus the other and realize that something is not right and tell my parents. My parents knew about my Si but they think I have stopped and if they see the scar on my leg they will FREAK! I don't really want to get rid of the scar as much as cover it. I liked the ideas of bandannas and ribbons, but that won't exactly work on my leg. Any suggestions?

Ankle length leggings or footless tights? Take time and make a wide hemp anklet?

^^ I never use the setting powder. It works grand without it but it might last a bit longer if you use it. Try your dermablend in outdoor or harsh bright light to make sure its the right shade!

Ye, but they don't have it here, so I gotta order it.

I know I use the "Multi-tasking" -everydminerals concealer, so if anyone else is using that too n know which kinda shade you use when it comes to dermablend, please tell me:P
