I've finished the first book but the very lefthand round symbol up the top (gringotts, diagon alley, common room etc) is still locked - have I missed something?
Even as the stone of the fruit must break
that its heart may stand in the sun,
so must you know pain.
There are only two ways in which one can live their life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is.
I think the very left symbol will be the shop. I remember JK saying pottermore will be a place to purchase ebooks of the harry potter series.
So obviously since the site it still in beta testing it isn't open yet.
I would've thought you could collect the cloak too, but apparently not.

I got my final email last night, I didn't go to bed until about half 2 in the morning because I wanted to stay up exploring Pottermore. I really like it so far, some of the earlier chapters could have had some more detail, and I think having sound effects or music would make the whole thing a lot better, but so far I really like it.
We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken
music, sound effect, story extracts. i hope they do add things.
Just keep saying that sort of stuff in comments and they'll pick it up. That's why we were allowed in early, to help shape pottermore.

We get to explore the chapters, certain scenes in the chapters. We see Privet Drive, the inside of the Dursley's house, all sorts of little hints and tips and find all kinds of hidden stuff.
All sorts of wonderful pieces of information we'd never learn otherwise, like how Vernon and Petunia got together and Mcgonagall's amazing life story.
I also expect that when the site is fully up and running we'll get music, sound effects or even story extracts read to us.

Yeah you basically go through the book one chapter at a time and there is interactive scenes from the book, like Privet Drive, the Zoo, The Hogwarts Express e.t.c and when you click on things in the scenes you get either story extracts, collectibles or extra information from J.K or sometimes a mix of all 3. Then there are even more interactive things like choosing your wand, getting sorted and brewing potions. It's pretty cool actually even if it is a little bare right now.
The extra information you get is so interesting, I loved reading about all the wandlore, and how the Dursleys met.

“The good things don’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
“If it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best. My friends have always been the best of me.”
I can relate. the number of melted cauldrons I ended up with. It takes ages to get used to it.
And even when you follow all the instructions right it can sometimes fail for no reason.
The sleeping draught is the hardest.

Really??, i'm not finding potions that difficult, It took a few tries to get used to the controls but I thought that might be because I don't have a mouse for my laptop and my touch pad is really unresponsive, I think i've got the hang of it now though, no melted cauldrons yet :). I found the spells a bit difficult at first but I don't think it was very well explained, once you know how to do them they are really easy.

^ ha I couldn't understand what I was doing wrong in the spells! All the letters kept falling to the floor and then when I worked it out I felt quite the fool :p
I like Potions but I kind of don't bother making them because of the long waiting time whilst it brews. Competely ruins it for me!
Yeah the potions take a frustratingly long time to brew, but they said on pottermore insider that they are going to change that within the next few weeks hopefully they'll only take 10-15 minutes instead of 80. I've been brewing like mad, but that's only because Slytherin and Ravenclaw are in massive competition right now haha

And I recommend everyone buy a brass cauldron. It brews much faster, less than half the time. Even though the estimated times to brew don't change.
