The more you want to be a mod the less suitable of a candidate you are. Moding is a rough job and is not the place for idealists of any stripe. The never ending stream of whispers, logs, PMs, emails, confidential information, infractions, bans, creepy guys, trolls, pro-kids and bitching takes a toll on you.
Its a fun job but you have to put up with a tremendous amount **** and still provide service with a smile.

Also, this thread doesn't seem to be getting Harley's attention. Think we should all take our tops off and post another thread named 'Boobs for Harley' or something. God he'll wish he never abandoned us.

I know that for the organisation I work for for free, on my down (depressive) days I just had to take a step back. I came in once when I was physically sick because they begged and realised that I would never be appreciated for what I did. Only when I finally took some days off and I appeared to drop the ball did I accept that if I didn't prioritse myself no one would.
Sometimes you have to prioritise yourself, and I guess that is where Harley is now with trying to work on his separate ventures from RYL. The fact that we are begrudging him that is a bit indulgent on our part, but maybe also a necessary weaning off for us.
Someone mentioned a dependency people (including myself) were developing on RYL as a substitute for SI and not focusing on real world support. Alot more newbies, a lot less supporters creating an entirely different culture in RYL from the past.
I challenge again that RYL needs a real world component, including training. Because many people are not satisfied with the limitations of the website. But a website cannot be all things
I think you have a great network of people, and potential to meet and exchange creative ideas and give support. Every organisation develops its own rules and evolves accordingly in order to survive.
And like finding alternative coping mechanisms to SH- persons have to find alternative methods of regulating the RYL website within restrictions.

To be honest, this has got to the point where I can't be bothered to put any effort into making this site better. Why should I when we can't actually do anything? We can all come up with good ideas, write things down, blah blah, but when it comes down to it we need Harley to implement anything and then most ideas are blown completely out of the water.
Also, this thread doesn't seem to be getting Harley's attention. Think we should all take our tops off and post another thread named 'Boobs for Harley' or something. God he'll wish he never abandoned us.

Also, I think Tiff is completely right, again in the CT the same points keep coming up. Ages ago Harley said that if v4 wasn't here by (last) Easter then that would be super late. Well, it's now way past easter. I guess my point is that everything seems to be hanging on the mysterious v4, and that's really frustrating.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that Harley (and everyone else) has a real life and that RYL is just a website, so real life obviously must come before it, but a message every now and again would take 5mins and would maybe make people feel a bit less abandoned.

i'm a little confused by part of this issue. i understand the problem of harley's absence, but the title *does* mention harley's dad as well, albeit in brackets. i'm guessing he'd be able to do a little bit, even if it's just nudging harley up the bum every once in a while but i don't think i've seen him around too often? am i just being blind, or has harley's dad gone off the radar too? sorry if i'm just being thick and missed his latest posts/threads, i'll admit i'm not as regular a poster as i once was.
