"Be nice. Think happy thoughts. Champion silver linings. Love all things (not just cute things like babies and kittens) & when you do love - love like they do in power ballads (you know like on a cliff with the wind in your hair and your eyes shut, knowing you'll never know love like this). Watch out for dog poo. Smile at people - even grumpy ones. Remember anything is possible & whatever you do always try to look on the bright side."
I often wonder if what we do on this site brings out the worst of what's in us.I don't know how to explain without getting warned/edited/banned. But I think the drama-rama-rama and the sort of mentality that dramatises and glorifies certain things bought out the worst in us on here. I think it's as much the fault of us (members, mods, everyone) as anyone else's. I'm rambling.
I also hate the manipulative 'oh you upset me/triggered me/ I'm going to do cut/od/whatever' now. I hate the walking on eggshells for everyone.
There are parts of RYL that I love, the generosity of Harley and other people with the Christmas Givaway, the way staff go out of their way to cheer people up with Advent calander events and such. That the supporters will unconditionally do their best to help everyone, no matter who they are, what their situation is, everything. To be honest, I think a small amount of members are pulling the strings and manipulating people so that the mods have to do things with the rules and such. I don't think it's right to point just at the mods, whatever RYL has come to, we all have a part in how it's got here, and where it goes.
I'm sorry if I've upset anyone with my post, I hope we find the way through this.
right to be honest if it weren't for the thing that i am actually what people would call addicted to this site i would have left or at least taken a break from it..
The support really has died and now only use this site for having a laugh in general chat and to see how my mates are doing it it.
I only ask for support when i need it most
"i'd rather hate you for everything you are, than ever love you for something you are not, i'd rather you hate me for everything i am than have you love me love me for something i can't BE!"
I'm sorry if I've upset anyone with my post, I hope we find the way through this.
I know I'm very knew, but from what I've seen, you're quite right.
Think of it as learning a new life skill. Adaption. Practice for the future.
I don't know. But all this negativity from everywhere won't help.
RYL is incredible, everyone on it is incredible. It's sad to see so many people unhappy (right word?) with it.
I met some lovely people through here, so many wonderful beautiful people.
But RYL as a site? It didn't save my life, it couldn't. Only I could do that.
Infact, to be honest, RYL just made me hate the fact if people knew I self harmed I'd be assosiated with people who had to be bubble wrapped.
I don't want to have to edge around saying words like razor & cut & bleed. I don't want to have to hide scars incase someone else find them triggering. I've come through this & I'm coming through this & I will be the woman that went from a scared child to the woman who overcome adversity. Why do people need to have trigger warnings? I don't get it, surely even me saying my cat died or i'm in the house alone, two simple statements could in therory cause someone to cut & so what, my post should have a trigger warning?
**** that & **** this.
I left quietly because i didn't want to be bubble wrapped & hidden from the world. I went out there & I did it. I don't want people to tiptoe around me incase they trigger me, I want people to think I'm ****ing stronger than that, because I am. & to be fair it ****ing sickens me that some people need to be wrapped in bubbles, but needs must. this place never helped me & it probably never will & no doubt there are many more in my position.
people need to take that leap into the darkness.
Ive been taking more and more breaks from here, but I don't think Ill ever really leave, the members keep drawing me back.
There are some real characters here ;P
