Well Mockingbird, my word is cerebral rather than mental. But then it was me who started all the stuff about bowler hats, only intended in an illustrative way (and hopefully nothing too Freudian coming out there!)
But I'm still waiting for a last line which scans for my little bit of doggerel posted earlier ...

If Harley’s Dad really owns a bowler hat, he is defiantly old enough to be somebody’s dad.
Harley’s Dad uses strange and interesting words not all of us understand – this may be but a tool of trickery to throw us off the original question (Is Harley’s Dad Harley’s Dad).
If Harley’s Dad was Harley’s Dad – why would he question it to the point of starting up a new thread on the matter? If the answer is to persuade us that he is the true father of Harley – why is he so intent on doing so?
If Harley’s Dad isn’t Harley’s Dad – why would he go to the trouble of faking photographs and charming us with sweet poetry?

...oh, it hit me like never before that love is a powerful force
yes, it struck me that love is a sport so i pushed you a little bit more...
I think, like all of life's great mysteries, the good people of RYL will
never discover the true identity of Tony, be he father, grandfather, man with
soiled bowler hat etc.
Yeah, I'm Harley's great aunt's best friend's step-sister's ex granddaughter in law... twice removed.

So far I think all of this poetry points to the possibility that Harley's Dad is, in fact, a rum drinking transvestite from 1676, who somehow fell through a time warp... He is more likely to be Harley's great - to the power of 9 - Grandad/wannabe Grandma.
