how the hell is what fi said an insult, it's stating a fact.

people on a self harm websit can cope ok with blood from a limb, but when it comes from a vagina everyone is creeped out?
that is double standards.

& i like my mooncup :)

just think that's unnecessary.

No no no moon cups + tea don't mix! D:
I have a mate who swears by her diva cup and actually talks about it to the point that you never want to hear of one again. If you could buy these things in normal shops, they might be more popular :\ xx

Have to agree with whoever said people need to tone it down a little in regards to there differing of opinions. I mean, some of the comments on here just made me "groan" and realise why i should never take part in discussions like this because people are too immature to actually take part in these discussions. I agree with Stace (Raven) - some of the arsey comments just aren't necessary.

I think this is a really good thread, and it's definatly made me think more about the future and if i would branch out to try new things. I don't think it hurts to ever be a little informed about things like this, especially as it's a natural womanly occurance and a massive percentage of RYL is made up of woman.

So big kudo's to the OP for making this thread :)

ME TOO. I mean it's gross enough to have periods in the first place...I'm pretty sure I don't want to be doing anymore with the bloodyness than wrapping it up and throwing it away! I refuse to wash pads or stick cups in me! Just my opinion.

Personally, I hate pads, but I'm not about to start getting arsey at the people who choose to use them.

Whats the difference between the blood sitting in a cup, and the blood flowing out to sit in your knickers? personally, I would prefer it was all kept inside.

i dont use a mooncup at the moment, I use tampons, but as soon as I have money I will be buying one, and I would like to thank flower fairy for opeingin our eyes to some of the alternatives available

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind.
To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse.
To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.
To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better.

I get the contraceptive injection.
No periods at all.
It's awesome.

And no worries about anything getting stuck or damaging the environment :)

Thanks for the informative thread, though. Greatly appreciated.

You can actually buy the mooncup in bigger boots stores.

Lucky you Jo! However with regards to them not damaging the environment that isn't strictly true, because women who take contraceptives release oestrogen into the water system when they urinate, which can make marine wildlife less fertile and thus populations to decrease. (Not that I'm saying don't take them, after all the worst thing someone can do to the environment is have a child! And I strongly believe women have the right to use contraception)

I've got the implant and yes my periods are generally light than they were, but they are so unpredictable and sometimes I get the odd terrible one. 2 more years then perhaps I'll consider something else.

I keep meaning to get a mooncup but never quite get round to it.

Just wanna say thanks to everyone that's been really lovely about this and I'm glad I could've possibly opened up a new path for some people.

For those that have heavy periods, cups are actually really perfect. A cup holds far, far more than any super absorbent tampon or pad.

so what happens if your out and your "cup" is full , you use public toilets what do you do.
do you go out wash it in front of people , or do you put the dirty one back in your bag ?
but i think personally in my opinion something that can be thrown away is much more hygenic ?
(sorry if this has been brought up already)
