Hey guys, thank you for your comments- you may have noticed that my screen name has changed. It was requested and was done! So yes, am am sadly no longer To the bone and am now Olive branch. Hope that isn't too confusing.
Also- as for when updates will happen I can probably tell you in advance. I have exams up until the 19th of June. From this Thursday I have 9 days without exams so there ought to be something coming in then, otherwise work with weekends! Is that okay?

It is eight thirty-four. I am thirteen years old. It is my birthday. What difference does that make? It’s another year. Actually, thinking about that it does make a difference. I survived another year. That is something to be proud of. I wish I didn’t have to eat today though. But birthdays are a time for stuffing yourselves to the brim. I’m just not hungry; I’ve lost my appetite recently if I am honest. It’s nothing too serious; I will eat properly when I feel better. I don’t know how long that will take but until then I doubt I can finish a meal. It seems to catch in my throat, it’s hard to swallow. Oh well, it doesn’t matter. I’m sure I can get away with eating a bit less, maybe if I hide some sweets wrappers in my room, then I can claim to have been eating all morning, perhaps if I saw it with a meek smile they will believe me. I am quite good at lying now. Everyone wants me to be fine so I pretend to be. I can easily pretend to be anything I want. I should become and actress- I’d fool the entire audience with a sweep of my hand, and a smile.

It is ten seventeen. I am sixteen years old. I think it is ten seventeen; I don’t dare glance at my watch once more. It might make him think that I am odd. I’m not odd at all. Being like this is okay, for me. I look up at him again; now the paper is all back where it should be, in its safe little blocks of number and colour. He smiles, and I assume this is code for I have to leave now.
“So, why did you stop running?” He asks and I jolt slightly. How on earth does he know about me, that I run? He knows me only as the person who ran into him crying and the person that now sits opposite him, seeming to count the minutes.
“Sorry” he continues, seeing the look of shock on my face, “you used to run past my house.” I blush deeply- how on earth did he remember me, how dare I run past his house and not feel like stopping.
“Oh, I got tired of it I think.” I look down.
“No, you didn’t but that’s okay. You don’t need to tell me what the real reason was.” He says, still looking at me, I feel his eyes burn into me. “But hey, Jocelyn. Be safe yeah?”
My whole world stops, the clock stops it’s tracking of my life, my heart pauses mid-beat. Someone knows my name. That someone wants me safe. My heart stopped, you know what the funny thing is? I couldn’t have cared less exactly how many minutes past ten it stopped at. It just did- that was enough.
