They've just said that it could climb into the 300's! *cries* it's the worst fire disaster in Australia's history. This makes the canberra fires from a few years ago look like a camp fire :(

I am really looking forward to summer, but am so thankful we don't really get fires here!! I can just about cope we 30's (as Engalnd usually only hit mid-high 20's)...but 40's, I don't think I could do. Though I think when we went to Domincan Republic last year, it may have been in 40's then...and THAT was bloody hot. >.<
Aims I think you should change the name of this thread to something about the fires becasue a few people have come in sayin gthey wish they had heat.... and it's quite sad

The thing about these fires is there was often NO warning and the heat+winds=firestorm. That is what caused the true devastation, not enough warning for people to getout. OR people staying behind to defend there homes... it just... breaks my heart. I can't watch the news anymore or read the paper. It's... horrifying.

Jess I'm the same, it's all we see on the television and I cannot take the images any more, the words, the rising death toll. I simply cannot.

What makes it hard is that even the news reporters don't want to cover it. It's.... terrible. Just... blah. *cuddles aimeeness*

That's true, about the newsreaders. Seeing the 9 newsreaders in the moment they realised their retired newsreader colleague had died was just, so tough. Also, it's really cheap to go to tassie right now, and even take my car!
The stories I've been hearing about those fires are just so so tragic. So much loss, it's really not fair!
I was in major panic for a day or two because I have family in Melbourne, fortunately they are in the city. They have also been telling us of the immense heat. My Aunt has been getting up in the night and putting wet towels in the freezer and laying them on the kids to keep them cool! And here we are with snow !!

Another fire was lit, in a different area in Melbourne, and is now under control.
But, honestly. You'd have to be a ****ing idiot to go lighting more fires after this week.
