So. I have left out one little detail that makes this story all the better.
Miss Pearl is a very popular woman in my city, in fact, after finding out her name (we just called her the scary old lady for about 5 months) I googeled her.
And this is what I found.
Miss Crazier-than-a-bat-on-shrooms is the OFFICIAL HOSTESS of the city and county where I live. That means that when any politicians come to down, or special events happen, she is there. Meeting people. OFFICIALLY representing our city.
Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.
Yus this story is 99.9% true. Because it all happened over a year ago I'm sure the details are mushy, but everything that I have said really did happen at some point.
Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,

And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.

“The good things don’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
“If it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best. My friends have always been the best of me.”
Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.

In March of this year David, myself, Tony (my BF) and several other friends were at a fundraiser for firefighters in my city. About 1/2 way through the event we were sitting together, and I decided to head towards the stage to take a few pictures. I get up to the first row and seats and look over to my left AND THERE SHE IS!!!!!! RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!!! I nearly had a heart attack!!!
I quickly scramble back to our table and grab David (the only person there who had met her, everyone else had just heard the stories), and was like "OMG OMG OMG SHE"S HERE!!!!" He looks at me like i'm a total nutter (Shurrup Kim and Erin) and asked "Who?" So I'm jumping up and down going "HER!! The scary old lady!! She's HERE!!!!".
At this point Tony and Rachel are both getting excited because they never got to meet her. So I point her out and we all have a good giggle.
The story doesn't end there.
We all get to talking, and telling the story to those at the table who hadn't heard about her. Eventually someone suggests that David (who is a little drunk, and A LOT smartass) should go talk to her.
That is when Tony mentions he has a can opener in his car. (long story).
He goes and gets it.
He hands it to David.
At this point Rachel and I are standing next to each other, with our hands over our mouths which are open in utter shock. Although I don't know why, since nothing David does surprises me any more.
He saunters over there (and unfortunately we can't hear what is said) and we see him try and hand her this can opener. She refuses to take it, so he tries again, she still won't take it. At this point he POINTS AT US and she looks over in our direction, causing me and Rachel to turn around quickly and look for cover. Finally he tries to hand it to her again she takes it from him and he starts walking back towards us.
At this point both Rachel and I have our jaws on the floor, our eyes are as big as dinner plates and we are beet red. I'm not sure if I should start laughing or run away.
Apparently when he walked over he offered it to her and said "Hi, I think this is yours you left it stuck in my friends door" ( like I said, hes a smartass)
She was like "oh what? I think you are mistaken" all innocent like. He then said "Don't you remember? you were knocking on their door. Here, I'm just trying to return it". She again professed to know nothing, and so he pointed over at me to see if she would recognize me. At that point is when he handed it to her the 3rd time, and she took it and said "thank you", and he walked away.
