Ok, well while we are waiting - I will 'pre-announce' a couple of details about the new chat system so we can discuss them and so you know what is coming :)
Firstly, we go back to a single chat, rather than two for technical reasons, because the chat is totally intergrated into the RYL account system.
Instead of two chats with two rooms, we go to one chat with 6 rooms.
There will be a total chat user limit through those 6 rooms of 100, max 20 in each. A recent update of chat means that Mods can enter chat even if it is at its user limit which is nice.
There will essentially be three chat rooms of each type, general and support. The general idea is the further towards the top of the list of rooms you get, the more general the chat, the less support / triggering they are and the less rules such as politics will be enforced. Towards the bottom of the list, ie the third support room, rules are enforced more strongly, triggers and serious support chat is the idea, and general banter will be less tolerated.
There are new chat rules. They tie in with the forum rules - indeed there is only one set of RYL Rules, though they will be rephrased for chat to make sense in that context (ie removing references to posting etc).
This means breaking the rules will result in infraction points just as it would on the forums. This also means points gained through chat count towards your overall RYL account, including forum, main site and everything.
Since everything security wise is massively improved on the new site, this will mean an end to members disturbing chat or bullying others and getting away with it. The infraction and warning system is super fair, allows points to be paid off with time etc - but it will also ensure those who put others at risk etc will swftly find themselves without RYL.
However that is the bad side of things. The good side is that everything is SO much clearer rules wise, especially when those rules are accidentally step on. Members who do this has nothing to worry about, the whole system is designed to be super fair and super clear (it informs you every step of the way with full reasons and expiry dates. If you do end up banned, it gives you an exact time when you will be auto unbanned and allowed back.
All these security measures and more mean a safer, more secure, more supportive fun chat enviroment. There will also be complete intergration with chat in other ways, such as being able to visit someones member profile from inside chat, and being able to see how many people are in chat and other stats on the forum homepage.
There will also be new Mods (hopefully lots!) and all this combined should all make for quite some improvement!
