My only addition to this thread is that I am also a pro at killing cacti. I'm not sure what exactly I did wrong, but all of mine died off over the years. I used to have loads. My mother killed one on purpose, because she hated it. It had these really nasty spines with hooks, so you couldn't get them out of your skin other than breaking it off really close to the skin. She put it out into the garden in winter. It didn't appreciate it. Oh, also, all my cacti had names. Last to die was Albert. I liked Albert. :'(

There is and it's not nice at all. Apparently it's absolutely OK to victimise and mercilessly make aggressive digs at someone persistently, when that someone is not very popular in certain circles.
