This has just made me want to start running again! I used to be able to run 10 miles...

I am!

I start week 7 today, so running for 25 mins at once. I thought it was completely impossible, but actually week 6 run 3 is 25 mins and I managed that so fingers crossed I won't collapse and die this week either :). I never thought I'd say it, but I enjoy running/panting and shuffling along gasping for breath.

Are you still going, Belle? How're you finding it?

I'm in, but I already run 5ks :X So, if anyone needs motivation or has running questions, race questions, what to eat/drink/whatever, no question is stupid when you're a beginning runner and I'm happy to field them all here or via PM

Wow, that's an amazing amount of running, Kate (I think?) :) Well done!
I am still on week for because my week 2 runs spanned over two weeks because things got in the way but yes, I am still going. Got about two runs of week 4 to do and then week 5. I go away for four weeks to India/Lancaster then so I'm not sure what to do when I get back but yes... it's such a good feeling to know that you've managed to run further than you thought you would (because I NEVER ran before at all!).

I'm sure you won't die but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :P

The only thing I have started developing is a stitch which is very, very annoying as I'm not that unfit... :|

Could be that you're over hydrating too. If you drink too much right before or during a run you'll develop a stitch.

I don't drink anything at all during the run or before it - could that be a factor?

Definitely could be. Try drinking 8oz of water about a half hour before you run and see if it makes a difference. If it's really hot out or you'll be running for more than about 30 minutes you should drink something about halfway through your run too.

YAY Belle...I kind of am *looks guilty*

Haven't had a lot of time but am fitting runs in when I can.
Going to go for one today as a matter of fact.
I'll try a week 4 run, but its been a while since my last week 3 one so I might actually die! Been cycling, taekwondo, and circuit training though so hopefully I won't be too unfit.

Hirple - I'm very impressed! You are doing really well!

Woop, Amy, then we'll die through week 4 together :) I have two runs of week 4 left for this week. So busy so I have no idea when I'll fit them in but I enjoy it so I shall do!
I did go to the gym yesterday but that doesn't count!

And no, I doubt your fitness has suffered ;)

FlightlessBird, that's cool, I'll try that. I should really not be so dehydrated, I'm thinking!

YAY I survived!
Though 5 minutes has never seemed like such a long time!
And my Ipod died in the last 5 min run :(

Still can't see myself ever making it to 30 mins running, but heres hoping.

I like that its only 4 runs though, seems to make the half hour feel quicker.

Yay! Glad everyone's surviving well. 5 minutes IS a long time to be running, makedamnsure, well done - especially when there's an iPod death involved! I promise promise promise that it does get so much easier, and this is coming from the most unfit person on the planet - I'm sure you and your sportiness can do it!

Thanks for the crossed fingers, Belle, they definitely helped and I am still very much alive, with one week 7 run left to do. I know it seems like an enormous jump but running 25 minutes is actually not so bad provided that you take it at your own pace. (which for me is shuffling, not running!)

Keep running! Oh and yep it's Kate :)

Completely forgot about this but then my boyfriend mentioned it and I thought I'd give it a go.

Did Week 1 first run tonight in the dark and the cold and the rain. Was really good and felt easy. I felt very 'free'. :)

The Mole was bewitched, entranced, fascinated. By the side of the river he trotted as one trots, when very small, by the side of a man who holds one spell-bound by exciting stories; and when tired at last, he sat on the bank, while the river still chattered on to him, a babbling procession of the best stories in the world, sent from the heart of the earth to be told at last to the insatiable sea.

Wow, I'm amazed everyone is still managing to keep going with this. Unfortunately work commitments kept getting in the way for me, and then when I started thinking I could get going once my ontract was up, I ended up in hospital with appendicitis, on strict orders not to do any strenuous exercise for six weeks while my body recovers from surgery. So it's been completely messed up!! But once I can get going again, I'm determined to!!
