Brit writer shuns TinTin for Tardis

SCREENWRITER STEVEN MOFFAT has turned down a £1 million ($2 million) contract with STEVEN SPIELBERG, to work on Doctor Who.
The writer was offered the deal to pen the first two films in the TinTin trilogy but rejected it in favour of joining the cult BBC show when creator RUSSELL T. DAVIES steps down.
Moffat says that replacing Davies, who is due to hand over the series later this year, was a dream come true.
“I know a lot of people won't understand it but I've been dreaming of writing for Dr Who since I was seven,” he explained.
“There are no bad feelings between Spielberg and me, but Dr Who has to come before Hollywood. I am working on scripts to be filmed next year.
“Russell T. Davies is doing four specials next, then my shows will begin. I talked to Steven and he completely understood. Steven is a fan and he understood my passion for the series completely.”

Since always. Cult, Meaning Culture. Even if no one's ever watched Doctor Who they know the words like Tardis and Dalek and so on. It's part of society.
Just like people know who Snoopy, Micky Mouse or Betty Boop are even if they've never seen their cartoons.
