The toll number is up to 84. How tragic and sad. I wish I could help too. Unfortnately, we can't even donate money =( But I'm thinking and praying for everyone. I hope no one else dies. =(
It was a 108 toll when I woke up this morning, making it the worst fires in Victoria's history, and still, something so sad that has just touched everyone around. It's heartbreaking.
I've just heard the death toll of 108 on this evenings BBC news - though it may even be worse by now. That is appalling; in UK, where we twitter about an inch or two of snow, half a dozen deaths make national headlines. I hope to God that the fires are very soon brought under control and that no more loss of life occurs. What do parents say to their children in later years - "oh, your grandad and grandma were burned to death in a bush fire." What sort of image does that give the survivors to live with ... ?
I was once involved on the fringes of controlling a heath fire in UK and I still vividly remember the sheer impossibility of getting to within even 50 yards of the roaring, hellish inferno that a major fire involves.

Fires are part of every summer in australia, but we've got some of the best (if not THE best) firefighters in the world so normally the devastation is... minimal. But in this case, it was a case of extreme weather along with some evil people and it's ended up one of the biggest tragedies of our history. All I can say is, I'm so glad it's not worse. It had the potential to be thousands of deaths.... It's heartbreaking.

Jess you are right, it is completely heartbreaking. Just - soul destroying for I think most of Australia, but obviously with heavier hearts on those affected closely.
Okies, I have 2 friends who are in threat =( One of them, a...person.. re lit a fire in her town, their keeping watch but hopefully they'll be ok. The other friend, the fire was heading towards her town this morning but I don't know anything else. I just got home =( I can't believe how high the death toll has risen... =(
I wish that could work! Send water from the floods! I just... gah. People who do this... burning them alive is too quick. Boil them in oil... Or better yet give them to the friends and family of the people who have died. Anna has lost so many people.. I just... I wish I could reach out and hug everyone who has been affected.

I don't understand people who re-light them. Wtf? It makes me so angry.
