I said to my girlfriend a while ago that I missed Wham bars and she went online and bought me a 100, it took me nearly 6 months to get through them all, filled an entire draw of my desk!
I can still get wham bars. they just aren't as good as they used to be. I can remember when they used to be 12 inches long, now they're only 6.
Hey; can anyone else remember these? I remember they used to sell for 20p apiece. I thought they were delicious, better than anything else available at the time.

I haven't read through the whole thread so someone else might have said it but in Asda they were selling the old style Opal Fruits a few weeks ago. They should still be selling them I reckon.
Aww I want some of these sweets now! Dweebs and Nerds were the best!
i remember seeing a poster somewhere saying opal fruits are back for a limited period.
Quote:
It was announced in April 2008 that Starburst would be reverting back to the original name of Opal Fruits in Great Britain due to popular demand. These will be available from late May for a period of 12 weeks, exclusively at Asda
Quote:
The return of Opal Fruits continues the recent trend of reviving classic brands.
Cadbury reintroduced the Wispa last year after an internet campaign which also involved protesters storming a stage at the Glastonbury festival.

That's the story I heard.
most sites agree with what wiki says:
Quote:
The brand Opal Fruits was phased out in the UK, followed by Ireland in 1998 in order to standardize the product in a globalized marketplace, though some lament the loss of brand identity, leaving many people in the UK still referring to Starburst as Opal Fruits despite the name change.
though the above does not mention the U.S other sites point blame there, for the globalisation

Does any one remember the sherbert you could get in pink and green, orange and yellow mini straws that cost 1p? youd split open the end to get the sherbert out.
My niece had loads of them yesterday! Love them. Pixie sticks i think they are called. Doubt they are a penny now though!

there's no such thing as a penny chew anymore. the only reason they keep the penny in circulation is to give you something when you buy a 99p item.
