I'm not sure if making self so clear.
I think I see what your saying.
The thing is, you can sit here and rant about your mum/the lady down the road (someone totally unrelated to this site) and someone on this site can still come along and read it and think your ranting about them, even when your not.

Also my other point was, You could rant about someone who you *think* isn't on this site and they could be which means you've gone full circle. (and this has actually happened to me so I know its possible)

I mean, you can make a rule to say "no flaming/ranting about other members on this site" which is fair. But how does that rule get policed? How would I know if you were talking about a member or your school friend/mum etc. Which is why I think the only way you can truely police this rule is if your R&Vs wern't about anyone. Which like I've said before ALOT of people would object to that and as you put it pup, beats the object of a rant and vent forum.

Like I said, I don't actually use the forum anymore because I've been stung to many times.

Which is why you need an equilibrium. It's finding the balance and not making it an 'all or nothing' situation.

Edit: Miranda is also right, the sarcastic and bitchy comments in general on this site is totally uncalled for and pisses me off too.

I do agree with you on a lot of what you've said Magic. I guess all we can do is try and put across to not rant/vent about other members (if they are aware they use the site and such) and do it elsewhere to prevent harm/instability?

I think maybe to break it down
  • If you feel like ranting about a member of this site - don't post it
  • If you have a problem with a member, pm a mod instead rather than ranting about them incase either side gets into trouble
though yes its hard to completely keep everything under an eye but if a general consensus is used and applies to all forums perhaps we can make a change for the better or at least a start?

correct me?

If you feel your rant will be misintreted why not post it as a private journmal entry. that way your still getting it out.

If I felt my rant would be misinterpreted I probably wouldn't post it on the R&V. I don't actually use it anyways.

The thing is, X member is ranting about there mother/brother/sister. Y member comes online and sees it, Thinks its about them. Because X member is ranting about mother/brother/sister they aren't going to think of people misinterpriting it.

we're not just talking mother/brother/sister here, we are mostly referring to RYL members leading to bitter angel's point of if it is about a RYL member - make it private.

people can misinterpret.. but if there is a problem speak to a mod and they can sort out any problems at their discretion.

as previously said in this thread, they would rather remove a comment than leave it there causing distress to another member.
